Josh Whitman strikes me as the type of guy that doesn't do anything on the "spur of the moment"
I look forward to him once again proving he’s smarter than any of us. BU is a home run. Lovie was a stabilizer but ultimately flamed out. Surprised all of us.
Think of that feeling when he hired BU. From Who? To ok. To what a steal. All within 2 weeks.

I thought that was strange what Golic said. I also thought the same by letting the clock just run. It would have been good work for IW.

I would agree with his comment Beckman 1/10 Bielema 0/10. Since I have a hard time deserting teams I root for. I would be rooting for a quick failure and firing for Bielemasshole.

And rather than that, you'd prefer someone we already employed, who failed miserably to recruit or win while abusing players and being just a general national embarrassment?

You know two people can be 0/10 at the same time, right?

Why anyone would ever type these words is beyond me. I'd rather not have a football team.
You think it was serious? Come on.
That’s how bad Bielema would be. He’s been mentioned like 10x - would people really want him? That is really unbelievable that anyone on this board would want him.

My wish list wouldn’t align with the values I’d the admin at Illinois. It sounds like JW already has his guy and I know he contacted 5-6 coaches before making this decision. You guys should have an answer soon(I don’t know exactly who the choice is yet either)
Absolutely correct.

Let’s stop overthinking this. The point is neither one of those idiots should have, or should ever, hold a clipboard on our sideline. Nor anyone in their moronic zip code.

Ill try to limit the sarcasm as apparently it is confusing people. 🤨

I am very surprised that LS was fired.

No to BB. I can't imagine that JW would hire him anyway.

Yes to GM if there is any way in the world that he would come here.

I wonder whether any assistant coaches will be retained.

I'm just hoping no one thinks it's a good idea to hire Kevin Sumlin.

There’s no way Josh lets this turn into a circus where it looks like the whole world turns us down. So I doubt it’s someone that was recently let go.

If true, some will be happy, some mad, very risky. I’m not all that thrilled by it.
So you are saying Miles Smith is our next head coach, and we are hoping to catch lightning in a bottle by finding our "young Lovie"?

I do not think this was a spur of moment decision. I did notice, as I suspect many others did, that the coaching staff seemed to just let the game clock just wind down yesterday. Didn’t look right. You get possession with 6 minutes left, and you have your timeouts, so you should compete. They didn’t. It made me wonder if they knew they were done. Then Bob Golic said something about “we don’t know what the future holds” and I wondered if the word was already leaking around the press box. Not that you needed to be Kreskin to see this coming.
A Kreskin reference...both rare and well played. Leipold or Jeff Monken for me...unless JW can make the miracle hire of Fickell ( yes, I know...ain’t happening)

I bet Auburn has contacted Fickell anyway...”Want to test yourself against the very best? Go head-to-head with Saban”

I do trust JW to make a good hire...Lovie was not a bad hire, it just didn’t work.

5 years ago one guy kept posting Dino Babers over and over, and another kept harping Fuentes.
Now it's Bielema . . . As for that fellow being a DB, I think Petrino is a charter member of that club.
And as for the post-er who wants no more NCAA firings, he should consult with the folks over at Ann Arbor.
RE: no more firings, I just don't want to compete with Auburn for the next head coach. I know we are not the top of the food chain in

Well for me. I wouldn't want Bielema under any circumstance. Lovie wasn't going to win. But at least he was a decent person. All the Bielema talk has ruined my fun following another coaching search. I suppose I could learn to root against anything Illini football does. It may be more rewarding that trying to have a winning team.

There are only a few I would hate to have Bielema, Fleck (Good coach, but can't stand him), Lane Kiffin (Also successful)
Then we are just down to who excites me, but I could live with others.

By the way, if they already have someone does that mean we can't even use flight tracker.

Re:Sumlin, I was way off on him when we hired Beckman. I am not up for that any more.

I really hope that Josh finds/found a great offensive mind. It seems that great OC get stolen away more than great DC. Or, maybe it's just my impression. I think it is easier to replace a DC.
I agree. And I base it upon an interview with Nick Saban this fall where (paraphrasing) he conceded that college football is an offensive-minded game these days. You can have a good defense and still give up 30 points a game. It's all about scoring more points than your opponent.
