I was told today by a source that we are looking at the wrong WR coach. Whitman reportedly is interested in another WR coach. He’s pretty young, a BIG time recruiter, has NFL experience.

I don’t know if this guy has been mentioned or not.. If so, I must have missed it. I’m sure some of you can figure out who it is by the info I gave...
Hartline eh?

Very interesting.

For reference, Dabo was a 40 year-old WR Coach and excellent recruiter -- with no HC or Coordinator experience. (He may have briefly held the title AHC.) The Clemson AD simply recognized that he had "it".

I assume when you say 'we', you are talking about this board.

This is who I was referring to last night- dudes is a huge up and comer. Honestly could be a stellar hire.

Hartline? That is very risky. But it fits the recruiter at the top and good staff below idea some of us have been clamoring for.

Hartline would be a huge risk in my opinion. He’s only been coaching 3 years and never had to recruit anywhere but top 4 OSU.

Huge risk, but if he keeps/gets top talent to Illinois..think of the endless possibilities. Plus if hes a homerun hire we finally find a guy who’d succeed and move up vs disappearing and never coaching again.

Much has been said about records as an indicator of potential success. A snapshot of overall record is not necessarily a significant indicator
of a coaches value. A couple of these men have taken over programs with poor win/loss records and experience 2-3 years of rebuilding. Changes in scheme, philosophy and culture take time let alone recruiting the right talent for the program. Monken took a couple years but will likely go to
his 4th bowl game (if there is one) in the past 5 years. Liepold is on a similar track. The point is, look at trends and program direction when hiring a coach.

Wouldn’t say he’s at the top but you would be foolish to think that Hartline isn’t on the list.

Josh wants someone who can recruit. Hartline is the best of the best.
I understand that part. But there’s a big difference between an osu wr coach recruiting and a HC recruiting.
