Townie - any chance you can show what the orange would look like with blue numbers (maybe white letters) and what the blue would look like with orange numbers (maybe white letters). If this isn't too much of a hassle!

Here ya go:

Plus a bonus grey option:

The first set of combinations of jersey/text/number colors are the exact combinations we need. When you look at them they look like Illinois jerseys. I've always kinda liked the "ILLINOIS" on the blue road jerseys. But bringing back the Fighting Illini on our standard jerseys is definitely the right way to go.

These are amazing.

If I had 1 change, get rid of the "Our state, our team."

Man that is some top quality jersey making. The first orange and second blue are incredible. Love the way the white fighting Illini pops off that navy.

Can you mock up a grey one with blue lettering/orange numbers or orange lettering/blue numbers? These are great!

I'd love it if they chose this for our uniforms. I'd imagine they'd still use the letter font that they use on our current jerseys. I'd be all in on these.

Just make sure they know these are for entertainment purposes only! I don't need a call from Nike's presumably cold-blooded lawyers.

This is obviously a front/back shot. A lot of people seem to hate the zigzag on the side of our current unis. Would you just have it be solid all around of have like a solid vertical/column stripe down the side or something.

I personally think that having nothing along the side of the jerseys would be best, with maybe a small vertical design around the bottom of the shorts. Seems traditional and clean to me.

I personally wouldn't add anything on the side, but it wouldn't look bad with a column there. Simpler, cleaner, is my preference. Especially as I think that look stands the test of time. I actually liked the "feathers" when they were introduced (I know many others did too if you scroll back that far), but intricate designs like that losses appeal quickly.

My thought with these is that the core of the design -- the split "Fighting Illini" around the number -- can be maintained as other jersey trends come and go. If you wanted to add a column for a few years, sure, go ahead. If the above font begins to look dated, change it. But keep the "Fighting Illini" in that pattern so it becomes the immediately recognizable image of Illini basketball.

Agreed. A consistent design concept that can adapt to trends is definitely something the program's uniforms have been missing and really needs. All the blue bloods have an immediately recognizable eliminate to their uniforms, even as styles change. We don't.

If anything, the most consistent aspect of our uniforms is that they've all been altered to fit the latest trend, as opposed to the latest trend adapting to our brand.

As mentioned before in this thread by S&C I think, I wouldnt mind seeing the same striping patter on the sides of our basketball unis that we currently have on our football pants. It would be simple and clean, but still add a bit more color and would help tie our overall look together.

It might be overdoing it, but you could have the collar and armhole piping be the same way.

Kinda like these Michigan State ones which I always liked, but with just a thin stripe of a contrasting color through the middle of the piping.

Or you could just scrap that and more directly copy those MSU unis.

Many ways you could go, and perhaps after a few years you change to something a little different (as MSU has done), but the core idea of the split "Fighting Illini", I agree, build the ship around that.

I like the "We Will Win" on the back to replace the state quote. In 2 years there will no question whose state it is. What about, and I know this will be shot down, but what about a very small chief on the left leg of tye shorts? What about a shield or lightening bolt there?

A lightning bolt?
