Don't care for the prying Asmussen interview. You know you're not getting anything. Tension was palpable.

Whitman interview from the airport. dont know if this has been posted.
The relationship between the Illini and both the Central Illinois and Chicago media are reflections of the media relations regime that was in place from 1992-2011. Both sides responded completely rationally and understandably to the incentives they were given during that period.
I hope there are some changes in the future. But big city outlets are always going to be a bit tougher, that's just the culture.
FWIW, if you're not a Bears fan (like me, Illlinois grad but born/raised in Denver), this is probably even more exciting. Because you see the resume for what it is without the emotional baggage of the tail end of Lovie's tenure in Chicago. I know as a Bronco diehard I would have been slow to warm up to, for example, a Josh McDaniels hire at Illinois because, even though that would look good on paper, the guy is the football antichrist. Well, in my opinion.
Jeez, get a better mic there mister.....

I'd love to know how this all went down behind closed doors? Did Whitman call Lovie and say let me give you an offer you can't refuse? And I am surprised nothing was ever hinted at by ANYBODY. Did Whitman contact Lovie right after he got hired? So many questions you could ask.
My thoughts exactly. I'm a Packers fan, and I always thought Lovie was an excellent coach. Anyone who could coach a Rex Grossman quarterbacked team to the super bowl is a genius in my book. I was thrilled when the Bears released him because I was pretty sure they'd get worse...and I was right. I'm beyond thrilled with this news.
Thank Ron Turner.
Thought the same thing as I was reading his tweets. Guessing he and Lovie probably had a decent relationship during the latter's Chicago years.Anyone else think that Ryan Baker's source is Lovie?

That's probably the stance of most other team's boards.
Laughing at us for firing Cubit. Calling us a disaster.
To not believing there's any way possible Lovie actually comes here.
To being mildly impressed when reports say it looks like that's exactly what's about to happen.
