Given that they've now put Fulmer on the Sale/Rodon fast track, I don't think he's a chip they're willing to part with, which makes me skeptical we'll see a big splash of a deal. I believe one needs to happen, but knowing this front office, that means it probably wont, unfortunately.

Didn't love seeing this excerpt in Keith Law's chat today. I love TA, but this logic has merit.

You want to trade away the Sox young assets? For what? They aren't winning anything.Happy Carson Fulmer day y'all. Another young guy I don't think is ready, but at least the org has a good track record in rushing pitchers to the majors.
This pretty much cements he's a non-available trade chip though![]()

It's easy to say that given what's transpired in between when I posted this and now. The point is, the front office needs to commit to one way or the other ie buyers or sellers. These half measures have landed us exactly where we are now - mediocre with elite talent in premium positions.
So ummmmmm.....anybody watch last night's game? I honestly cannot remember the last time I was that pissed off...
Unfortunately yes. And started watching around the 7th, just in time to catch the meltdown. Fun stuff.![]()
Some legitimate chatter out there about the White Sox warming up to the idea of being sellers. Rangers and Dodgers are rumored to be looking at Sale (yeah, right) and Q.
I don't think that the Rangers have a strong enough prospect to get Sale. I said last year that I would consider trading Sale (and Q) if I got the right players. I'm even more apt to trade them this year. The Dodgers have Urias, who if coupled with a couple other prospects could be sufficient - I think they have two guys in around 30. Obviously the team to target with Sale is Boston. They have three of the top 10 prospects in the game. Get two of them and a another prospect and move forward. Then you can move Q for another two top 50ish prospects and this team gets much more interesting very quickly. Trade Abreu for one top 50ish prospect and trade Frazier, Robertson, Duke, and Melky for varying levels of lottery tickets and the future of the team will be infinitely better. They'd take a public opinion hit, but this is the only way the team can contend in the forseable future.
We have two great pieces in Sale and Q and another good one in Abreu. Eaton is OK. Then you have two young guys with potential in Rodon and Anderson. But there is nothing in the minors that can fill our voids. Our potential Catcher is several years away as is any help in the OF. Furthermore, there are no answers available by free agency in the off season. Unless you think everyone will have a career year next year, this team is not contending. Then most of our guys are free agents with no replacements in the minors. So we will be stuck paying guys who can't get it done.
The only option is to improve the team by trade. Unfortunately our system is so bad, we cannot improve our MLB roster with trades. We can only tear it down to build it up. This would be similar to what the Astros and Cubs have done in recent years. Except, we have an opportunity they did not. We have two great pitchers who can be traded to instantaneously change the future of the team.
Of course, we need to put our faith in a front office that has gotten us into such a pitiful situation.
Trade rumors on fire. As much as they probably should, it would break my heart to deal Chris Sale.
Not a Sox fan, but I've been following these rumors intently. What would it take to make a Sale trade "acceptable" as a Sox fan? From the Rangers I've seen talks starting at Gallo and Profar.

That's why a team looking at a window during this year and the next two years should be giving up a huge package for Sale...and Quintana.
