Any word of Groce or assistants watching Frazier?
Groce was there according to Corey Evans.

No chance. Even if we landed Scruggs, Wilkes and Goodwin, UK or Duke would probably still have a better class. I wouldn't complain with that class though
Ayo played up this spring as well. My guess is that the Fire 17U still have a few uncommited players and they want to highlight them. One of them is Storm Murphy and the other is probably Justin Smith.
Doesn't Frazier love Illinois?
Zero. The #1 class will be Duke or Kentucky. Very few of the top prospects have committed at this point.
9 of the top 50 are committed per 247 composite.

Florida Elite won 68-27.
Scruggs, Wilkes and Goodwin would probably keep us at number 3 though.
Looking like the gap between Scruggs and Frazier isn't quite as yawning as virtually everyone assumed.
It sort of is, only because Scruggs is a bonafide elite pg. But you can't take anything away from Frazier. He is for real. See "elite burst", "gamer", "playmaker", "lefty that gets to the basket" and all these wonderful observations of the kids game. I think taking his current ranking with a grain of salt is fair here...strange to think we're in a win-win situation point guard wise
That's the take away. And a damn good one it is. Very, very strange. What a turnaround! And if Nitty Jr. morphs into a PG...
And there are 3 excellent '18 PGs in our backyard.

Scruggs is a definite NBA prospect, so I think there's still a gap, but if you read the blurbs from the few times Frazier has played top national competition it's pretty encouraging. Respected evaluators have said he has elite quickness, finishes well in traffic, is a very good shooter, and has a good motor. It's just that he hasn't played in many tournaments and hasn't proven that he's a true PG. he'd be a great consolation prize. Long, bouncy, flashy player who can fill it up.

NY2LA: Ayo Dosunmu eval + he talks game, Illinois & N'western visits & recruiting | Link: http://www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1686505-ny2la-1-1-ayo-dosunmu …
If Goodwin is just waiting to improve his rankings I don't think that is a sufficient reason to gamble away the opportunity to play at his number one school. If he is trying to get to a blue blood school, then I say we don't wait for him. We take best from the group of Eastern, Lewis, Justin Smith. The only other reason to improve ranking is to get an invite to MCAA game or other national all-star game.
We still have August, but by that month players really have to start declaring.
