Ayo played up this spring as well. My guess is that the Fire 17U still have a few uncommited players and they want to highlight them. One of them is Storm Murphy and the other is probably Justin Smith.

And Negron

Ayo and Garland are great, but I like Ramey best. Going to be tough sledding, but would love to squeeze him in.

Am loving these tailwinds! So refreshing, especially after wandering around in the desert for so long.

Looking like the gap between Scruggs and Frazier isn't quite as yawning as virtually everyone assumed.

Scruggs, Wilkes and Goodwin would probably keep us at number 3 though.

Based on where all the recruits and commits are ranked now that would put UI in third based on the 2016 class rankings. This is using the 247 class calculator (another good marketing tool). It would be a score of 69.08. For reference both Duke and UK finish at 70 and change in the '16 class. The shear size of UI's class is going to keep them pretty high even with a moderate close to the class. Adding Frazier and Goodwin gets it to 64.71 which would correlate to 11th in 2016

It sort of is, only because Scruggs is a bonafide elite pg. But you can't take anything away from Frazier. He is for real. See "elite burst", "gamer", "playmaker", "lefty that gets to the basket" and all these wonderful observations of the kids game. I think taking his current ranking with a grain of salt is fair here...strange to think we're in a win-win situation point guard wise

That's the take away. And a damn good one it is. Very, very strange. What a turnaround! And if Nitty Jr. morphs into a PG...

And there are 3 excellent '18 PGs in our backyard.

And a certain fella named Dee to help reel em in! My hoosier roommates admitted were trending up. I promise you, that means it's real :D

Scruggs is a definite NBA prospect, so I think there's still a gap, but if you read the blurbs from the few times Frazier has played top national competition it's pretty encouraging. Respected evaluators have said he has elite quickness, finishes well in traffic, is a very good shooter, and has a good motor. It's just that he hasn't played in many tournaments and hasn't proven that he's a true PG. he'd be a great consolation prize. Long, bouncy, flashy player who can fill it up.

Intangibles are there too. He's a state champ. An athletic playmaker who knows how to win sounds nice alongside a certain fiercely competitive guard.

If Goodwin is just waiting to improve his rankings I don't think that is a sufficient reason to gamble away the opportunity to play at his number one school. If he is trying to get to a blue blood school, then I say we don't wait for him. We take best from the group of Eastern, Lewis, Justin Smith. The only other reason to improve ranking is to get an invite to MCAA game or other national all-star game.

We still have August, but by that month players really have to start declaring.

Frazier kind of sounds similar to Caris LeVert based on the things said on twitter and on this board. Anyone that has seen him play think that is fair?

Also I think fans can be optimistic about Frazier even without knowing a thing about him...just look at the scholarship scenario. He doesn't need to take a PG no matter what like he had to take Tate or Starks. With Lucas and Damonte already committed, Groce can be much more selective. And he could easily roll the 6th scholly to '18 if he wanted too. IMO this shows Groce is recruiting Frazier because he has the tools to be a stud.

I agree 100%. After these tourneys in mid July there really won't be another showcase for him to change his ranking much. And I do think that is a motivation for him since he has always been a bit underranked because people don't know what position he is. I think this April-July he was out to prove position doesn't matter. In large part he did that but I actually think Peach Jam may have hurt his stock a little bit because they played so many long teams and he was partially neutralized.
