I'm not saying he will for sure committ but trust me when I say, Wilkes really likes Illinois. Family loved the visit and coaches.

Loyalty after dark starting to heat up. If this is truly a battle of the 100's, I don't see Clappy or Alford lasting long. Neither of those guys can match the sincerity of JG in my opinion. Our guy is about as authentic as it gets, that's for sure.

I think its pretty much just down to those 4 and hoping to get 2 of them, but what happens if Epps really likes his visit then kiir visits and wants to commit, then Wilkes says ok im in too I know the odds are about as slim as possible but what if ????

We'll all roll over and die, so it won't matter.

Based on the recent comments from Wilkes regarding Indiana and their "realness", it seems like authenticity and sincerity are high priority to him and his family. It's really starting to seem more and more like Illinois or Xavier.

Isn't Travis Steele Groce's brother-in-law? Obviously, both great recruiters. Wondering why Groce never has had Steele on his staff, as Steele built-up a recruiting footprint within Indy AAU scene.

The recruiters who land the players who make teams great

9. Xavier Musketeers: Travis Steele
The Musketeers are continuing to find their way onto the recruiting lists of several top prospects, and Steele's tireless work in the Midwest is a major factor. He helped bring in last year's stars, Trevon Bluiett and Edmond Sumner, as well as Jalen Reynolds. Steele also has Xavier heavily in the mix for multiple ESPN 100 prospects in 2017, namely Kris Wilkes and Paul Scruggs. Steele and Luke Murray, who landed ESPN 100 recruit Tyrique Jones and transfer Malcolm Bernard in 2016, form a potent duo.

Step-brother. Steele was the AAU coach for IDKWTI that was hired by Sampscum as a video coordinastor @ IU during that ugly recruitment. A lot of UI people will never forget. Steele is still a little toxic.

Redundancy?!?! They are both great recruiters but specialize in the same geographic area Indiana/Ohio. Better to have other recruiters who deal in other areas, Chicago, St Louis, etc.... Just a guess on my part, but makes sense. Plus the ordeal TCT referred to doesn't help make that connection work either.

So many intriguing parts to the Wilkes recruitment, but one that has been mentioned before is that IDKWTI and Wilkes both have had the same HS coach @ North Central--Doug Mitchell. He's been there 20+ years.
Personally I think Groce knows his way around Indiana better than Clappy. :)

And this is why, when Groce was hired, that many posters feared if he did well here that IU would try and lure him away. ATPIT it's a mute point! ;)

More than a little

What's the reason we refer to crean as clappy? I really enjoy it, I just wanna know why I enjoy it.

For some reason my iPhone almost capitalized his name

Leaving many other things aside, I think you're underestimating the importance of having a complete roster deep with talent and experience and coaching and all the rest.

If we had a Malcolm Hill at each position we would be the best team in the country.

Put a superstar one-and-done on a badly coached threadbare roster and you get LSU last year.

The comparison that you made in your post was "a" (meaning one) solid 4 year contributor versus "a" one-and-done player (meaning one top ranked one-and-done player, e.g., I assume in your follow-up post you mean Simmons). Saying that the solid 4 year competitor is better.

Now, you are saying five (5) Malcolm Hills, one at each position, versus still one (1) top ranked one-and-done player. That is not the same argument.

You're right. We should really try to sign Kevin Durant.

The fact that we can't sign a Kevin Durant type of player (which we can't) does not mean that a solid 4 year player is better than a one-and-done Kevin Durant type of player.

Not very good at reading tea leaves........what are our chances of landing Wilkes? It looks like Indiana may out.
Thanks.
