Didn't B.Paul go primarily to his right up until late jr year or even sr yr? I'm not implying that Griffin is or will be as good as Paul was, but Paul turned out ok.

Most all kids favor one hand. Ayo does THT does, I'd wager 90%+ of college players will use their dominant hand 90%+ of the time. It's so prevalent I don't worry about it at all in a recruit.

This is entirely true even as they move through their college careers. I've said this before, but in a clinic, Bob Huggins said one of the basics of press Virginia is forcing ballhandlers to their off hand. He said when they chart turnovers, the percentage forced when forcing the opponent weakhand skyrockets.

It's natural to favor/be better with one hand, specifically I think lefties because it's so hard/different to guard. The idea is a good staff can develop the other hand if the player is willing to work.

If you guys watch videos of the guy Aaron Henry who is visiting today. He uses both hands very well.

Zion looks great. Still would prefer THT but I think he would really fit into this team well. He has the build and athleticism to be disruptive and the nice part is that he wouldn't need to play significant minutes his freshman year. This would give him time to improve his right hand and skill level before we need him the following year. Definitely the type of player that I wouldn't expect a ton from as a freshman but could make a massive soph leap after 1+ years in the system and with Fletch.

I heard from a pretty good source that Zion felt his visit to Iowa State was more impressive than his Illinois one.

Ah, well that would suck. However, being from Illinois and having guys like Mark and Damonte in his hear could be a huge help. We will just have to see how it all plays out. Also, depends where he stands on the list for Iowa St. vs us in terms of priority.

Couple of things.

He is an Illinois fan so hopefully that will be a factor.

I looked at ISU boards and barely a mention of him. Illinination can play a factor in this one, imo.

Zion Griffin is still in the infancy of his recruitment. Not really worried too much. If you hear the same story after official visits, that would be more concerning.

I unfortunately don't know anymore than that, just got a text from my source and that's all that he expanded on.

Zion said he enjoyed the visit. He's an Illinois guy. Said he looked up to Damonte and Mark Smith. Watched Illinois growing up.
Maybe Iowa State put on the show, think we have edge on all other counts.;):illinois:

Ayo gets an offer from Memphis. This recruitment just got a couple shades grayer,

Frankly despite what some people claim I've never been real convinced Ayo ends up here. If he does fantastic but his kind of the recruitment is the kind that I'll believe he ends up at UI when I see it.

Without more context and info, it's impossible to know where any team stands with Zion Griffin. He's had a few intense weeks and the dust needs to settle. If you look at his offers, though, it's not unreasonable to think Iowa State could make his final's list. Having said that, I wouldn't trade places with Iowa State or any other team regarding his recruitment. We have a lot of recruiting advantages--assuming Griffin believes he has what it takes to compete at Illinois. We believe he does, but does he? The attention he is getting is somewhat new and he may need some time to assess where he fits in best.

This. I wouldn't trade places with any other school for Griffin's services, with the huge caveat that we know very little about the factors he considers paramount. Many, if not most, prospects consider a legit path to early playing time to be very important.

Hmmm first time Ive read this. I assume you heard something?

Yeah first I've heard about it too. Thought I would hear something thru other sources. But a writer on another board mentioned it. Someone who's talked to Okoro on at least one or two occasions.
