Painter is all class and a great coach imo (I've actually met him before when I was at the Buffalo Wild Wings in West Lafayette. I had no clue that was where he had held his local show either haha. He was chit chatting with everyone and seemed so humble and down to earth)Painter sounded very knowledgeable and gave effort in answering questions (not like Fran the Hawks coach). He seems like a real class guy, as he complimented our team
Absolutely. But of course you have so-called "fans" who will criticize him as if we had a roster with seven McDonald's All-Americans.Underwood coached a fantastic game with Kofi and Payne being in foul trouble early. He went with the right guys when they were effective.
I’ve thought this for years that Bardo should never do another Illini game…goes out of his way to not sound like a homer so much that it’s infuriating..would take Dakich any day over him..on a side note, great effort today..reminded me of the AZ game..hope some of our big games the rest of the way go our wayBardo makes me remember Dakich isn't all that bad. I have to turn off the sound when Bardo has an Illini game. His "better put your big boy pants on" every 5 minutes is getting old. But the good news of the day is that the Illini made a game of it without Kofi...and Belo was a lot better than I expected in his first game back. Better days are coming. (I still think the turning point of the game was Payne's flagrant 1.)
So the league office plotted with the officials and directed them to give Purdue an advantage today? Please stop, because people do prison time if that actually happened... Every loss that is close gets blamed on the officials on every message board in the country, but this is kinda absurd. Today was a great game in a stand alone time slot on national tv and it featured our team. Take it for what it is. We were involved in one of the games of the year.On refs....kinda think B10 needed Purdue to win this. Not sure why announcers are not willing to call refs out more.

Do you watch much college ball? Officiating is really bad, especially in the Big Ten. Yep so far there has been a FRESHMAN Curbelo who sometimes played a little loose, but usually brilliantly for a FRESHMAN,Up to this point in his career, remember that there are TWO Curbelos.
Fun fact, not all teams foul at exactly the same rate nor are all fouls shooting fouls/in the bonus. So a FT disparity doesn't automatically equate to totally garbage officiating. And are you saying we SHOULD get home cookin' from the refs on our floor? What garbage is that? They should be impartial no matter the court.
Also If you think we got hosed by these refs, Michigan fans had a better argument for getting hosed by them on Friday...
I think most will agree officiating on the whole is bad. I think the issue some take is that some fans genuinely believe there is a league-wide conspiracy to screw over our team. There isn't. Every fan base has fans that think this. It's Hanlon's Razor: never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. Except you can sub out "stupidity" for "incompetence." They're not out to get us. They just miss calls, and despite what many on here believe, some games it inures to our benefit, some games to our detriment.Do you watch much college ball? Two practices since November and you want him initiating the offense?Seemed often curbelo didn't start as point in offense today...but often 1st or 2d pass. Kinda like Ayo last year...often better not bringing ball up, but getting ball when he was moving
There were definitely some tough/bad calls that did not go our way, but in the end, Purdue made the clutch plays in the 2nd OT and we didn't. A great college game to watch. I live in Spokane where the Zags rule all Sports coverage and it's downright boring to watch them undress their "next best" opponents (BYU, SM) by 30 pts. The game is usually over by the 3rd TV time out. We are lucky to be Big Ten fans and get nail biting games night after night in the BIG. Let's learn from this loss and keep this season rollin' on a positive vibe. Go Illini! So the league office plotted with the officials and directed them to give Purdue an advantage today? I'm just glad I don't have a job where my success and possible future employment might be controlled by three men with striped shirts.
On the flip side, you can blame everything on those three guys.I'm just glad I don't have a job where my success and possible future employment might be controlled by three men with striped shirts.
This is why some posters (myself included) feel the refs affected the outcome of this game. If they swallow their whistle on just one of Kofi's [alleged] fouls, then you do have Kofi on the receiving end of some of those passes and I think we win.And imagine if those passes to BBV were to Kofi, we’d have won’t the game.
I watch a ton. The officiating around the country is not great, but also not as bad as we are making it out here. The reason it doesn't seem as bad in other leagues is because our team doesn't benefit. The heart has a way of playing tricks on the eyes sometimes...Do you watch much college ball? andre initiated great offense, even when he got ball after a pass to him on wing..., his playmaking shined ...worked great for us and him today. Two practices since November and you want him initiating the offense?
I agree with all that but a few more practices would be good for conditioning alone before I want him bringing the ball up on every possession, let alone the pressure of starting a particular offensive set. He should be ready by Friday. LOLandre initiated great offense, even when he got ball after a pass to him on wing..., his playmaking shined ...worked great for us and him today.
Ayo adapted last year in a similar manner...catch at full speed from wing and using his playmaking abilities after that.
Side note...Loved Andre's pullups...and he got a baseline contested fadeaway that was another highlight.
He had 26 min and 20 points and solid all the way around...I can't imagine a better way to use/apply his playmaking skills than what we saw today.
Two practices since November and you want him initiating the offense?
Yes I did, see above post.Did you.....not...watch....the game?
(please read...this aloud...as......slow...as....I.....typed it)
