I am glad you included Audie Matthews because he came 2 years before Levi came.
Audie went to Bloom Trail. I don’t think that’s public league. That’s why I credit Levi with the big shift. My memory could be a little hazy, I can’t remember if Audie played for Coach Henson or got there shortly before Henson arrived. Audie was a big deal too as a recruit, but not quite as big as Levi at the time. Levi was the game changer.

Audie went to Bloom not Bloom Trail.

A meaningful tournament run for starters. Deon is the career leading scorer and rarely does he get mentioned in the immediate top tier of the Illini GOAT.
Interesting. I mean, your criteria are your criteria, so fair enough.
Not one I would use for multiple reasons but I'll play - what's a meaningful tournament run? Sweet 16, yadda yadda?

My gut is telling me he’s staying but my head is telling me opposite so I don’t know.

I’m not talking about agent or family. Im talking about guys who as soon as Kofi was to go broke will split and look for their next golden goose.
Welcome to world of big time athletics. Every player deals with this to some degree. Each athlete has a different level of tolerance. LeBron has brought his friends along for the ride. I believe Maverick Carter met him by getting him throwback jerseys in high school.

this^I have heard so many different things from different people. This is nuts.....My gut says he's coming back but we will see
Ahhhhh so this is why we are at 15 pages.

Lulz, didn’t go far enough.

If he enters the portal his time at Illinois is done.

I think that’s fair if he decides to go. Then it’s CoHawk’s team.

3 time All-American possibly after the end of next year. It definitely puts him in the discussion for Illini Hoop's GOAT.
He did the best in college. He isn't the best athlete or most talented player. If he was he would be a lottery pick and we would not be even having this NIL coming back talk

Anyone else wondering if the “doesn’t play shooters” guy is Poz’s dad?

He just can’t give up the Loyalty…

Would any of us be satisfied if he came back and the three teams surrounding him produced one Sweet 16?

I think Deon is in the discussion.

I think he's in the conversation too but he's always an afterthought when talking about the GOAT. It's always players from the '89 and '05 teams as it should be. Kiwane Garris is a perfect example. When he left he was the all time assist leader and second leader scorer and his name is almost never mentioned here. I'd bet an Elite 8 or beyond for either of them would have changed that narrative.

I think the Tea Leaves are becoming pretty clear on Kofi........
