I've watched Caddyshack over and over and it's still funny and clever.
NIL and the transfer portal are certainly causing their own havoc but I think the big one will come in response to NCAA vs. Alston SCOTUS ruling. Payment (and definition) of educational vs. non-educational expenses, classification of athletes as employees, impact on Title IX, etc. will all lead to a possible seismic shift in the entire landscape of college athletics.

well, other than having no one yet out of the portal.
I just don't understand the pollyannish attitude. Everyone acts as if it's a given that we're doing great with NIL. But the public sponsorships are minimal. The Illini Guardians NG article was very vague. We're told money was collected for Kofi but don't really know what's available for other players.

Players will play for the name on the front if the name on the front does right by them. If they feel exploited by the name on the front, why should we expect their loyalty?

A proper gif can define the current course of a thread or even change said thread's direction..........A chuckle here , a guffaw there and before you know it a smile has crept upon your face and a light hearted attitude towards this thing we call life and measured by the clock ticking forward , one beat at a time , and then we get to see a new recruiting thread the new day , and the day after that , and the day after that , and the day after that until we can overcome the negative thoughts and minds that delude our happiness......

Possibly. But that would require that the player or players coming in would be convinced to not talk amongst their peers about what they've decide, which seems highly improbable. Even telling a best friend and telling that person not to tell anyone would be problematic. I doubt coaches would rely on such unpredictible secrecy, especially to dupe a player currently on the roster who he would like to keep.
