My buddy participated in a Illinois Alumni golf event yesterday with Deon and Tim Anderson speaking. Context notwithstanding (appealing to alumni for donations)...Tim said flat out Dain Dainja is the most talented at his position he has ever coached.

Alex Legion was an all American in practice. Hutch was pretty good too. Samba was destined to be a superstar as I remember. I can think of many others. Looking forward to crow snack at some point.
All those flavors and you chose to be salty.

Basically, you are looking forward to one or more of our players not living up to their potential/promise?

How the F did you interpret his post that way? It’s reasonable to wait to see what a kid can actually do in a real game, especially one who has just 9 min of game time over the last two years.

Based on the way BU fluffs incoming players, we should be undefeated over the last three years. And it seems TA is a fellow practitioner of this extreme optimism.

I interpreted it because he literally said he was looking forward to people having a crow snack. How else could that be interpreted?

Not anointing a team of almost entirely new players as the next Flying Illini until we see them is a good take. Rooting for it to not happen to prove a point is not.

I interpreted it as the OP was looking forward to crow snack when Dainja is ELITE.

As a side note, have we actually had TA driven hyperbole before or was that unfounded? Given his reputation of developing bigs and draft prospects, I do think it's a meaningful comment (re: DD)

Just seems like he is being realistic to me. History often says practice reports are incredibly optimistic (Hutch, Legion, Kane etc). Seems like a stretch to say he is excited our players won't live up to high expectations here, he's just being realistic given history and tempering expectations a bit.

Well in that case I take it back.

In my defense, it was worded pretty ambiguously as evidenced by the number of people who liked my post after apparently interpreting it the same way.
I'm glad that we know that you are an M.E., as the number of likes on a message board is pretty flimsy evidence for anything.* I"m glad to know you're not an attorney. :D

* I'm one of the people who liked your post, and half of the time I don't know what I'm doing.

Suspect it is difficult for even the coaches to predict time at this point. A lot going to depend on chemistry (or fitting roles). May depend on matchups with particular teams although it seems BU sticks with a lineup and tries to force the opponent into match up problems. I am of the opinion that Dain will be good but unsure of the minutes due to foul problems. Would feel fine with roster if there was a defensive backup center. Maybe Hawk will be be a good defensive center but that is completely unknown at this point to us but probably not to the coaches. PG doesn’t concern me as have 2 good frosh that need the time. Learning curve may be frustrating but necessary.

It's indicative of posters who generally agree. Clearly I was not the only person who misinterpreted the original post due to it's wording. That's pretty straightforward reasoning based on "likes." I'm making no other claims.
