Looks like Marquette isn't realizing that they need to guard Klesmit 5-8 from 3 and has 21 points at half. This might be the most a Wisconsin team has ever scored in a half (46 points)

Kids from Canada don't get evaluated by recruiting services to the extent American kids do - that's why I listed Edey. If Edey was from the States, I can guarantee you he'd be rated higher than Jakstys who is a borderline 4 star at #110 overall on 247.

6 over 4 years in the transfer portal era is pretty damn good.

Compare it to us:

2024 - 1 4-star
2023 - 1 4-star
2022 - 4 4-star
2012 - 2 4-star

They're not recruiting at a level significantly different than we are. And they actually keep their highly rated recruits.

Meh on the Canada thing. After taking a look at past rankings, I don't think that's a thing like you think it is. That doesn't move the needle a lot with regard to the main point though anyway, and if Edey was a 4 star instead of a 3 star, it was still far too low. It's not as if Edey was this college superstar in the making and nobody knew because he lives in Canada.

Also yeah, recruiting being about equal to Illinois is apparently not super impressive and everyone, including Purdue, is dabbling in the transfer game.

4 star Brandon Newman transfers from Purdue

Wisconsin is playing out of their minds, and Marquette is the better team on an off day. Gonna be an interesting finish

Underwood and staff need to figure out how to keep hs recruits and keep portaling.

Edey averaged like 4 points per game as a senior in high school. He was not highly rated at all and being in the states wouldn’t have changed that.

I responded to a guy who said Painter "rarely" gets 4/5 star recruits. Bottom line is that 6 in 4 years is nowhere near rarely. I didn't make any comment about Painter vs. Izzo.

Northwestern, for example, landed one 4-star recruit in the 2021-2024 recruiting classes. That would fit the definition of "rarely" IMO.

Keep moving the goalposts and creating strawmen though.

I'm glad you're certain that more exposure and better coaching wouldn't have had any impact on Edey's HS rating.

What are you even talking about? You think nationally televised games where people see him scoring 4ppg against weak competition automatically boosts him to a 4 star recruit? Painter literally just had a press conference and talked about how he wasn’t good in high school and how much he’s developed. Painter called himself a bad college player but said even he averaged 27 a game in high school because it was easy. Go to Kams and have a blue guy on me

What an opening night in the Big Ten. Northwestern (6-1, 1-0) beat No. 1 ranked Purdue 92-88 in overtime Friday to open Big Ten play. The Wildcats became the seventh program since 2010-11 to beat the No. 1 team in consecutive seasons, Northwestern turning back No. 1 Purdue last season. Friday's 92-88 overtime win was led by Boo Buie who scored 31 points - seven in OT - to go with nine assists, two steals and no turnovers. Zach Edey led Purdue (7-1, 0-1) with 35 points, 14 rebounds and three blocked shots. Purdue went 31-for-41 from the free throw line and almost doubled the Wildcats on the boards 52-27. But Northwestern's guards did an excellent job holding onto the ball as the Wildcats had just three turnovers to Purdue's 17.
