Identifying talent hasn't been the problem. Groce does a very good job of that, often offering kids well before they blow up. The problem has been closing on them.

I don't think anyone embellished anything. I merely stated what Sam said and there was a discussion about what it may have meant.

I'm curious. Why would Sam have sour grades in regards to Nunn? They never played together.

In fairness to Sam, he is a semi-regular on the radio show. Also, he was asked about Nunn. It's not like he just decided to start talking about it on his own.

The difference is that the other situations were inferences by fans. This is a former player saying it. Granted, he never actually played with Nunn, but it's not unreasonable to think he might have some "inside" info.

I haven't seen this mentioned here. Sam Maniscalco was on the Tay & J show last week. He said that Nunn's departure is "addition by subtraction" and that it will help with the comradery and cohesiveness of the team. Does SM know something we don't or was he just prattling on?

Are we really going to start this already? Illini fans laid down incredibly unrealistic expectations for Groce. Let's not make the same mistake here.

I love the optimism, but I think you are pounding the Kool-Aid hard. I think the goal for this year is to make a bowl game, any bowl game.

The only real chance we had was for them to wait a while to commit. I mean, the open contact period started yesterday, right? My expectations for the 2017 recruiting class are to be in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten and hopefully grab a few 4-star recruits. My expectations for 2018 will...
