With the expanded B10, everyone has a murderous FB schedule now. Much more difficult going forward for the former B10 West teams. I think Illinois has it relatively easier and more manageable this year to get to a bowl game relative to other B10 team schedules.
I like that we tried Dainja and Hawkins on the floor at the same time, but when both are on the floor, why isn’t one of them parked near or under the basket. There were a couple times with both of them playing when MD got an easy dunk or layup.
In Caleb’s defense, Boswell dribbled around and gave the ball to him with only a few seconds remaining. Love’s heroics toward the end of the game are also why UA was able to make it to overtime. However, I acknowledge that CL shoots a lot of low percentage shots, which harmed UNC last year...
Domask’s game elevates expectations for this season. Imagine if we get more efficient and consistent production from Hawkins, Guerrier and others to go along with TSJ and Domask.
I think 1-2 was a reasonable expectation to start the season given the schedule. Improvement on defense, and now we need to focus next week on improving offense. Illinois should win next week if they play well and have a good matchup with Purdue in a couple weeks. I’m expecting continued...
If things don’t work out with RayJ, I think we should be open to Caleb Love. When he’s “on”, he‘s a star. Last year was a mystery at Carolina, but I remember him carrying UNC to the NCAA championship game the year before with insane shot-making and athletic plays. He just needs to be more...
Yes, it looked like he was not on the same page with Hawkins. Mayer was demanding the ball instead of rotating and moving away from the ball as signaled by Hawkins who was at the point with the ball.
Great comeback but bad decision making and shot selection in final stretch. Off balance threes were not what we needed when it was still 1-2 possession game with clock remaining. Shannon was fouled and Zach Edey should have received a technical - he pushed Mayer to the ground.
Don’t blame the refs - we also got some beneficial calls. Like all season…poor decision making, forced shots and inconsistency. We gave this game away. Agree that Dainja should have been in the game. Bad coaching Xs/Os.
In addition to all of the other comments, one specific thing that I have noticed with this team is that the entry passes to Dain and Coleman are often too low and not on the right side leading to a steal or not receiving the ball at the ideal spot for them to score down low.
