Keats is growing on my a lot in this search, I think it will be either him or Cuanzo. The one thing I am worried about and a little skeptical of is, should there be any concern that he is doing this at an even more mid-mid major? It just seems like a big jump from UNCW to Illinois.
This actually makes sense with regards to Cuanzo. You put him in familiar territory with alot of connections and he may be a grand slam hire. I would be very interested to see how an African American coach would do up in Chicago. If he is in fact the guy that's a pretty high floor on this...
I disagree with this. If anything they are underrated. Vegas does not have a good read on them. They are 6-2 against the spread against power 5 teams. They were underdogs against Georgetown, OK St, Michigan, Indiana and won those games outright. Plus they covered by 22 points the last time...
Something i could probably check if i wasnt so lazy, but how good of a recruiter is Frank Martin? He would be a guy I wouldn't mind vetting, everywhere he goes they seem to win.
I have heard from several pro Illinois fans that say they no Matta and this is what they say as well. He was never that interested in Illinois. Hard to say for sure in hindsight.
What was funny, was them talking about Travis Ford like he was some savior to the profession of coaching. He had all of the resources in the world at Ok. State and couldn't make it work. Groce has had his troubles but I don't think its close on who a program would want over a long stretch of time.
You do realize he recruits more than just Canada right? I don't understand the hate for Ford at all, i feel like Illinois fans are misguided a bit about which roles some assistants actually do.
There's nothing wrong with that question. It is a legitimate one seeing that it appears extremely unlikely that Tate committed this crime, yet his family could have to shell out thousands of dollars for his defense?
Ive heard he was a terrible teammate here and kind of a jerk and that is the main reason he was pushed out. The talent didn't match the headache. Hopefully he is able salvage his career and have a strong finish.
Agreed. These guys are keyed in and they have people they trust, but those people tend to be mostly from the Illinois side of things. Someone like Piper or Henrickson are better to listen to on the actual recruiting side of things because their sources tend to be from multiple angles and more...
The money, the resources everything Memphis has makes that a spectacular job. I think we've learned recently that conferes dont mean as much as they used too.
He doesn't even have offers from all of the Missouri Valley schools in the state. Not one Big Ten school. This isn't the kind of kid Illinois can take a chance on right now with the abundance of wings already on the roster.
