4 Illini players are in the Jones Cup Invitational. Meyer off to a good start, the other 3 guys, not so much.

Scoring

How'd this end up?

Just looked it up. Dylan Meyer finished 7th place.70-80-70-220. Nick Hardy ended up T35. 77-78-76-231.

Being elite has some perks....

Looking forward to being able to watch these guys in person at Rich Harvest Farm in May (hopefully competing for an NCAA title!) Go Illini!

Weather forecast not wonderful, with thunderstorms highly probably Monday / Wednesday. But they are getting warm weather and some good competition. Good luck, men.

I'm guessing that they are in a rain delay, as there are still no scores on the web site.
Not much fun sitting around in the clubhouse when you wanted to be playing golf.

Edit: I got that 100% wrong, because I just looked at the front page. There are individual scores and team results part way through the round on another page. Not sure why those don't roll up to the front page, but they don't. The golf is on . . . and as often seems to be the case, the Illini are starting out slow. Nick Hardy is -4, but everyone else is even or above. Illini T4 right now

Just realized that they used a shotgun start for this event.
Not sure if they will do that every day, but it makes mid-round scoring comparisons just a little bit more dangerous than normal. Sort of like unbalanced conference schedules :D

Yikes, 9th hole is killing us this second round. A par, bogey, double bogey, triple bogey and quadruple bogey. The last score from (previously) tournament leader Hardy.

Must be a VERY hard 162 yards, because I see lots of other scores over par. Not as bad as ours, but I looked at the top 20 or so and 3 was the best score. Surprising for a group of really good golfers.

I would think a par 3 with scores like that would have to involve a lot of water.

This Kent State team is looking tremendous.
If it weren't for them, one would conclude that the Northern schools are still shaking off the rust of winter, but Kent State isn't even in southern Ohio, much less the South.
Very impressive.

Yep, hats off to Kent St. Not the first time the Illini have struggled in the first outing of the spring, especially with 2 freshmen in the lineup it's not too surprising.

Illini finish in 4th, 30 strokes back of Kent State
I'm pretty shocked by that, if you can't tell

Illini play in the Southern Hills Collegiate starting tomorrow. Looks like a lineup change, Tadiotto playing in place of Baumgarten, who will still compete as an individual.

Curious.
Why do they play so many of these on weekdays? Seems inconsistent with the whole "scholar / athlete" thing.
