Weird is right. I'm attending the Cardinals - Mariners game Sunday. Hope the Birds play like the last 3 games and not the 5 previously.

It's time for Oh to takeover.

Rosenthal's ERA for June: 14.14. Yet Matheny insists on continuing to use him as the closer. Amazing. Oh (season ERA 1.66) had a one-two-three 8th inning last night. Why on earth didn't Matheny just leave him in the game and at least give him a chance to pitch the 9th?

Some interesting stats.

Yeah 10-7 isn't good enough with the way the starting pitching has been. Going for a club tying record 14 straight quality starts tonight.

And I don't know about Rosenthal. We need him whether it's as a closer or as a setup man. If you demote him from the closer spot then maybe he loses even more confidence. Or maybe it relieves some pressure and he returns to form. Same thing with Oh. He's comfortable right now, if you change his role it could mess him up.

Put Rosie on the "15-day DL" to get him away from the game.

I don't think oh would have a problem going to closer. He has that mentality from his days in South Korea.

I think we have to try Oh. Wasting some quality starting pitching too often.

Rosie out as closer. Good. He's not getting it done right now, hopefully he can find himself again in a lower pressure role.

I don't know about anyone else, but I like what I've seen from Oh. What a year he's been having.

In May I called Oh being the closer by July... It may prove true (once he gets a save opportunity)

Had a couple shaky outings of late (including last night) but I think the majority is more comfortable with him out there regardless

I'm not sure Oh is the long term solution, but would certainly be welcomed change right now. I think Rosie can do it, but mentally, he's not right. Plus I think Oh is here BC he didn't want to serve his suspension back in Korea and is only signed for the year (this may only be a rumor - my brother told me this info)

Is that the gambling suspension?

Here is my prediction:

Close game tonight with a save opp.... Oh is too tired from throwing so many pitches last night that he is isn't available. Rosenthal comes in and strikes out the side on 9 pitches.......... then wtf do we do?

I think the club has next year as an option year..

Rosie has always wanted to be a starter. Now would be the time to try I'd say. Especially with the lack of young arms that could come in and pitch tomorrow if someone got hurt

Total sh**show tonite. I had a close up view from sec 145. Pretty much looked like a high school team, and handed a win to KC. Terrible. Can't hit anything but HR's, can't catch anything either.

I don't know if these guys are going to get it together this year.

Discouraging. Very discouraging. And 7 straight losses at home, their worst since 1983. Ugh! :tsk:

Yeah. But you gotta admit that Moss HR tonight was beautiful.

That was a moon shot, no doubt. The one Morales hit would still be going if it didn't run into something on the way up.

Mo/DeWitt tried to rebuild on the fly, counting on Wong/Adams/Grichuk/Piscotty to develop into legit big leaguers. They are 1 for 4.

That's just one problem. This infield is terrible defensively, and has no range to make it worse.
We are also the worst baserunning team I've seen in quite awhile. The bullpen is shaky. On and off, mostly off, offense, too many players swinging for the fences and piling up K's.

Too many problems to fix at the trade deadline.
