2017-18 Illini Golf

Tiebreaker today is playoffs, so scores don't matter.

Inching the way closer and closer. 5 strokes off at the moment. Oklahoma is falling fast. Everyone is playing now, so we'll see if anyone else wants to help us out.

These double and quadruple bogeys have been killers.... We needed to make up ground, and we have not...

Yup, three doubles and one triple that we are using.
Make those all bogies and we're FIVE strokes better.
Five strokes better and we're T8.
Right where we want to be.

Disappointing but they are playing much better overall than yesterday. If they do not make the top eight yesterday will be the cause.

You're exactly right about that.
And Nick just doubled #1.
Fat Lady clearing her throat, I'm afraid.

Still a great season, no doubt about that.

8-12 all dropped 2-3 strokes in last 5 minutes, some hope

Unfortunately so did we. Geez, I got to stop checking the scores. We were just +17 and I thought, we might actually have a shot. Come back 5-10 minutes later and we're at +19. Ugh.

Forgot the tv focus today is on the individual leaders.

Go Dylan. Tied for 3rd.

Between biting my nails and developing a nervous tick, I looked up a little info on 2018 ILL recruits:

Adrien Dumont de Chassart, Belgium.

Ranked #14 class of 2018 WORLD! amateur rankings, according to one source.

Back to tourney: Illini can still pull this off.

Looks like maybe + 19 could possibly get it done. Gonna have to finish REAL strong now.

As a side note, they have gone a little crazy with the length of these golf courses. 7400+ yards is nutty. I know these guys hit it a mile but there’s nothing wrong with seeing some birdies. These guys are good but this isn’t the PGA tour.

And looking at the Google map, it looks somewhat tight and almost totally tree lined. Very hard course.

Hardy double bogeys #9. It's over now. Five doubles and a triple are too hard to overcome.

They could still end up top-10. I guess we can't complain about that.

You know we're spoiled as Illinois golf fans when 11th in the nation is a disappointing finish.

Today's match play appears to be as dramatic as match usually is.
I'm not near a tv, but I think this might be on Golf Channel?
I'll have to try for an afternoon look-see

I agree. What we wouldn't give for Illini basketball to do Sweet 16.

By the way, Nick Hardy has received an exemption to next week's Rust-Oleum Championship in Ivanhoe (Mundelein), ILL. Tickets are only $21, and I think that admission price is good for Thursday through Sunday.

I'm trying to find Dylan's plans for the summer. A great article in a recent Courier Press of Evansville said he, too, is going pro.

Rust organizers say they want to give exemptions to players with local ties. Give one to Dylan if there are any more to give. I bet you might get added interest from locals if he were playing. I'd love to see Hardy and Meyer in their first pro outing.

Rust-Oleum field won't be announced until a week from Friday at 5 p.m. Scott Langley, in top five money, could be there.

I'll pass along any info I get on H & M's summer schedule.
