You aren't seriously insinuating that Lovie will get hired to the NFL are you? This fear from some of our fans is ridiculous.

I am not specifically insinuating Lovie would leave, no. However, he is definitely on the short list of NCAA coaches that would be on the NFL radar given his previous success at the NFL level. I'll also note that his NFL success came with no upper echelon QB talent, which is not common.

The above reasons are #1A & B why Lovie was an absolute grand slam hire, and we should be grateful to have him as long as possible.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I assume you mean he is unethical. I'm curious what he has done to deserve that reputation? I honestly don't know.

There were rumors of infidelity and he revoked scholarship offers to players who were offered by the previous staff.

The offers thing I don't find unethical personally. These coaches get 2 -4 years to build a winner and giving up scholarships to guys you didn't recruit and don't think can help you win probably isn't the best way to rebuild a program.

The infidelity part if true is a little unsavory and Petrinoesque, but likely not all that uncommon.

He's a little corny but a heck of a recruiter and has shown his coaching/rebuilding chops as well.

I've heard that, but my problem with him is he's the most obnoxious person I have ever seen in a uniquely obnoxious profession. I've never seen someone weave a tapestry of BS like that.

I honestly don't think he's cut out for the big time and that his act will wear thin, but not before he makes a big splash in recruiting, especially in Illinois, and that's why I'd rather not see him within the division.

Not sure why, but if Fleck ends up at Minnesota, it worries me less than if he'd gotten the Purdue job.

Hmmm. I kind of feel the opposite. Minnesota's got the tools to be much better than they are (state of the art new stadium, only show in a state with decent in-state talent, situated in the state's major media market, etc.) . I'm not sure you can say the same about Purdue.

He took the OC job at NIU for literally 1 day, then left for Tampa Bay.

When hired at WMU he rescinded the scholarships of all players recruited by Cubit. Not only did he do that, but he did it 2 weeks before signing day during a dead period. Recruits could not contact him or any other coach when he did this!! And there were no scholarships available for them elsewhere Totally left them out to dry. He is a scumbag, would not want him near the program if I was Minn.

When asked about how he would feel if he was one of those kids whose scholarship he pulled he said "I know if it was me, I would be ticked,"... "I also know if it was me, I would have showed up in the office of the head football coach, telling him I was dying to still be here." Said this knowing full well it was done during a dead period and they could not contact him. He is a bad person.

Seems kind of an odd time to fire Claeys. Minny had a good year, went to a bowl. If it was for off the field stuff why wait until now? Just seems odd IMO.

It wasn't until late December where Claeys made the ill fated decision to support the players foregoing the bowl game in solidarity of accused gang rapists. Then the University report comes out and makes the coach and team look horrible.
