Chicago Bears 2015-2016

It would really hurt to watch Gase walk after this year.

Him in a second year of Cutler with a healthy Kevin White would be something.

If I'm the Colts he's the guy.

Gase will walk. It was a bit of an upset that he wasn't hired this year, and he hasn't done anything to hurt his stock.

I assume the Bears' brain trust knows this and have plans in place. I get to assume this now because a can actually give this GM and HC the benefit of the doubt.

I wouldn't be surprised if the plan was to promote the current QB coach whose name I've forgotten. Whatever it is, Fox has a really good track record in hiring coordinators.

This may be his greatest value.

If the Bears would have been willing to accept the gift win the Lions tried to give them and if they had not blown the game at home against the Vikings a couple of weeks ago they would be 6-3 and in strong playoff contention. NFL is a weird league.

Running the ball on the 2-point conversion? Sigh.

What about going for it on fourth and goal from the four down 17-9 with ten minutes left and not taking the three points? Fox looks like a very good coach Monday-Saturday but he will cost you a few games a season on Sundays.

His very good tenures at Carolina and Denver were marked by great defense, strong special teams, good rushing attacks, conservative passing games and occasionally head-scratching decisions on offense, especially in the playoffs. Guess some things don't change.

Fox gets criticized for being too conservative last month at Detroit. Now he gets criticized for being too aggressive today. John Fox just can't win with Bears fans apparently.

The problem is recognizing when to be aggressive and when to be conservative. If the ball had been inside the one you could make a good case to go for it. But not at the four. The Bears lost both games you refer to in your post. I thought Kubiak was too conservative at the end of the game for Denver today but he has a very good defense that helped him out in the end.

Yesterday's game came down to two things:

1. Without their top 2 WRs (3 if you count White) and Forte, the Bears didn't have anyone to loosen up Denver's defense. They played the run all game. (Which made that 2 point conversion attempt even more quizzical.) The Bears had a couple big plays, but drops and the inability to run away from defenders stalled drives all day.

2. Despite getting pressure on Osweiler all game - I think the Bears sacked him 5 times - Osweiler never made a "young QB mistake." Really, no bad decisions from the kid making his first NFL start. I think the Bears had the right game plan considering all the offensive injuries, but you just have to give Osweiler a ton of credit for playing a solid game.

NFL... mired in mediocrity.

The Vikings record could actually be reversed as well.

Not to mention Bennett ran a pass route to the left. Pretty clear they weren't all on the same page.

Maybe use that TO they left on the board.

Granted it was easier to think of that from my living room.

These guys are professionals. Not to call TO in that situation is a mistake on their part. And even if they were in pass protection, we hadn't run the ball well all day and didn't exactly have Forte in the backfield to run it. Bad decision.

Sounds to me like that is Cutler's fault since he audibled to the run.

Cutler outplaying Rodgers and getting a turkey leg in Lambeau on Bret Favre night? Priceless! :thumb:

Priceless indeed. I actually think this last 4 games have been Cutler's most impressive in his time in Chicago. So great to ruin Favre's and Packer fans Thankgiving party tonight!

I actually think this last 4 games have been Cutler's most impressive in his time in Chicago.

In the 8 games since coming back from injury, Cutler is completing 64% of his passes for 2165 yards, 12 TDs to 4 Ints, and a rating of 94.7. The team is 5-3 in those 8 games, with none of the losses by more than 3. In two of the three losses, Cutler drove the team to a late score only to have the defense give up the lead late. Cutler has put up a very solid half a season of football.

Kevin White, reportedly full speed today at practice, cuts, catches, everything. The plot thickens, 9-7 make the playoffs?

Goodness did any of you catch the end of Packers-Lions last night. If the Lions would have won they would only have been a half-game behind the Bears. As it is they had their guts ripped out and likely the last four games of their seasons turns into a death march.

That was an absolute OMG ending to the GB / Det game.
The defensive penalty to extend the game was pretty mild, too, as the tackler really only swiped Rodgers' facemask, then tackled him by the shoulder. But it wasn't an unreasonable call, just maybe a little bit marginal. Then a 60 yard hail mary to an endzone absolutely chock full of players for both teams. Unbelievable.
