No more Peralta please. Now a Baez error and Mets are up 4-3. Lackey probably ready to explode.

Terrible looking at bats by Baez and Contreras to end the game with the bases loaded. Both were strike outs with every pitch a fastball at the ankles. I know it looks nasty coming in that fast, but make him throw it over the plate at least once.
Yep. Only on pace for 103 wins now![]()
This team has some serious problems. If this is how Arrietta and Hamel are going to pitch the rest of the season then forget it. The offense is terribly inconsistent and beats up on bad pitching but almost always is shut down by decent pitching. There are only so many games against the Reds and Pirates to pad their won-loss record.
Peralta, despite being a RHP, has better splits versus LH hitters. Basically he's a right-handed throwing, lefty one-out guy (LOOGY).
At least I think that's what CLEARWATERDAN was getting at.
Montero looks alright on the mound!
Joking aside, yes, the past two weeks has been a rough stretch. The starting pitching was overdue for a regression, as they were collectively pitching historically well. Combine that with a bullpen implosion and injuries to key players (Schwarber, Fowler, La Stella, Soler, etc...), a rough streak was expected.
Still, though, they are 9 games up in the division (8 with a Cardinals win today). Get through these next 7 games (3 vs. Reds, 1 vs. Atlanta, 3 @ Pirates) and enjoy a much needed All Star break.
I understand the frustration, but I don't believe these problems are as serious as you are making them out to be.
We are seeing truly how much dex means to this team.
Nothing like the Cincinatti Reds to help a team get right.
I'm not giving up Schwarber for anything less than a Sale level pitcher. No chance.
Sucks hearing him have to make comments on him being on the market while rehabbing a serious injury. I know it's a business but the kid hasn't even played a full season yet.
I can't get the homer in Pittsburgh out of my head, and the fact he told Theo he was going to do it is unreal. As a rookie!
Three multi home run games in 51 total games.
I loved champaignchris's comparison to being like Manny Ramirez. (Obviously, he's yet to play a full season, but comparisons are always fun, even to a HoF bat).

Yeah, its a good thing the Reds are in town, they should cure all the Cubs ills. Whoops. We can gloss over it all we want, but this team started off 25-6 and is basically a .500 team since (27-26).
