Cincinnati 71, Illinois 51 Postgame

As hard as this is to take I would think about starting Melendez and Podz tomorrow. Curbello just has to sit for awhile he can’t be left in now. This was one of the most embarrassing games I have seen in at least 20 years.

if we don’t have the talent the other team does I get it, but that was not the case. We did not play hard. Yes we missed a lot of shots, but we played with zero heart on the defensive end. We don’t run offense and until we do I think we are better off with Curbello coming off the bench.

Except when we win more B1G games last year in our history...and Ayo misses 3 of those....and we win the B1G Tournament?

Edit: ...and BU will use this as a teaching tool later in the season and it will help us in the long run...
So what exactly changed from last year to this year without Ayo?

Did you see our offense without Curbelo?

It is obvious to see where the players get their heart of the game from, Underwood had the open mouthed Weber look multiple times tonight. Once again, zero in game adjustments and completely embarrassing. Any defense of this coaching staff or team is absolutely unwarranted.
Not sure there was any coaching tonight..or in the off-season for that matter..did Kofi ever kick the ball out of a double, triple, or quadruple team..can’t remember seeing it happen

Just who can score in the open court?
I know who can be a TO machine.

Wrong.

If he was kicking trash cans and berating players......the hot takes about him would be the same. Fair weather fans with nothing to say when we are whipping scUM and winning more B1G games than ever....then pile on like flies on poop.

So lame.
Not looking for a Bobby Knight type of performance from Underwood but if This year is acceptable coaching for you than dog !!!! is a good supper. I prefer Steak and potatoes

Pretty sad to realize that the football team is the juggernaut. What a sad team this has turned out to be. Zero chemistry.

Well, that was something....awful. The lack of fight was the worst part.

Hopefully.
I still have fond memories of the postgame thread after we lost to Rutgers at the RAC last December, several days after obliterating Minnesota at the Hall and a week after the debacle in St. Louis.

They're talented athletes, and very young. They'll learn.

I’m having a hard time remembering an Illini game with such a lack of energy.

Is there some sort of team chemistry issue?

I’m at a loss.
Yes. I’m just wining, but that might be the worst performance against “expectations” I have ever seen. Obviously, expectations need to be adjusted.

I think the object of the game is to throw the ball into the hoop, go after all loose balls, don't turn the ball over, and play tough defense. Someone needs to tell the team they did not do any of this tonight.
Then there is the huge job of getting Curbelo to quit dribbling back and forth. into traffic, back out, then turning it over or flinging up a wild shot.

Kofi CANNOT win the games by himself, someone else has to do something other than watch Kofi get triple-teamed by their man.
The preseason hype has really gotten to many of these players.
