I’m actually intrigued to see who Louisville does get. I agree with everything written about their resources, history, etc. But I also know the expectations there are sky high. It will be interesting to see how far they go down the ladder to get their coach.

I’m sure they will ask Drew, and it won’t surprise me if they also ask Billy Donovan to see if he wants a soft landing out of Chicago (I’d certainly make both say no at least once before moving on).
About any school who wants a basketball HC will take Billy.

Would Pitino go back? I am trying to think of a coach who has to build from the ground up in a hard conference. It’s not like oh we got a couple 4 stars and a 5 star we are back

Borzello seems to think their main target would be Scott Drew at Baylor. If they can't get him then they may try and pursue someone like Mick Cronin if they can mitigate the buyout. They may also go after Dusty May but if May takes the Ohio State job and Drew and Cronin turn them down, then he's not sure who they'll look to.

I think it's a natural progression for him. Very successful at the D2 level. Built and sustained a strong program. Rebuilt Indiana St. They were like SLU, stuck in the mud with Greg Lansing.
At SLU, will have improved facilities and NIL collectives. Still utilize his Midwest recruiting ties while tapping more into St. Louis, Chicago, Indiana markets.

Plus being in St Louis, I'd love to catch a game seeing Cream Abdul Jabbar when he transfers there.

I wonder if having NIL makes a college job more attractive to these NBA guys unlikely to hold a gig there. I always thought not needing to recruit in the NBA was a bonus but with NIL resources at a big school that should help.

We've come all the way back to us in 2003.
Except I’ll bet ANYTHING we (1) match the ~Blue Blood~ salary this time around and (2) have an infinitely better chance at convincing him to stay.

EDIT: Insider beat me to the punch with actual information rather than just my guesses! 🤣

Just got word that Chris Holtmann is taking the DePaul job ...:oops:
i was hoping he would consider siu, but i love this. depite osu's recent run, i think he can coach. growing up in chicagoland (i'm afraid to say when, ha), depaul was the first big time college ball i was exposed to. and, yes, they were very much still big time back then.
