Gotta be a courtesy interview. He just signed on with FoxSports.

You would be shocked out how many osu fans want him. It makes no sense other than a fear of someone leaving for a better job.

When did the Cubs ever hire a broadcaster to manage?

1960 although it was kind of a "ringer" situation. The Cubs swapped Charlie Grimm from the dugout to the booth and sent their color man Lou Boudreau down to the dugout. But Lou had managed for a lot of years and won a World Series while managing the Cleveland Indians in 1948.

The White Sox did make their broadcaster ("The Hawk") their general manager back in the 80s. Went about as you might expect. (First thing he did was fire manager Tony La Russa.)

John Groce is available for Okie State. Probably comes cheap, just what the AD likes.

Only makes sense. All of our old coaches end up in the Big 12.

Peegs (IU insider) now has a profile of Chris Collins.

Has there ever been a basketball coach that changed schools within the Big Ten or B1G?

This wouldn't include a situation where the coach left the conference and then came back for another job. Only a direct switch, so that would exclude Alford at Iowa and then coming back to IU.

I think Collins would be a tremendous hire at IU.

Apparently John Thompson III at Georgetown has either resigned or been fired.

Lord in heaven have they ever screwed that situation up. You are late to the party, friend.

Whoops. Man, I have to think Keatts at least strongly considers that job if offered.

So does Ewing leave the Hornets to go back to Georgetown? It would make the delayed firing making a little more sense, I guess and probably somewhat appease JTII.

Sometimes a delayed firing is the result of securing a commitment from a potential replacement.

There's a fair chance that Georgetown already has their next coach.

You think Georgetown will buy out his NC State contract?

Too late. If Georgetown wanted him they should have gotten to it earlier. It's really bad form to leave a job after just accepting one too. I know Chris Beard did it and I just don't understand why there wasn't more blow back for that. I guess because everyone knows there is no loyalty and everyone just gets over it. IDK...

Maybe Crean? I doubt that Ewing or anyone with a Thompson connection is taking that job. Unless that was the only way JTII would accept the firing of his son.

I'll guess for Georgetown....King Rice. Withdrew from Duquesne discussion...maybe he knew something better was on the way.

That's a fair point. Though I did recently read an article where former players anonymously expressed their frustrations with Thompson, citing senior as the road block to firing him. But the fact that they felt compelled to speak out anonymously adds to your point.
