But like, Knight can disown the program and the University as he has done, and that's still a plum job.
Is Georgetown? A small private school in a shaky conference that plays in a gym they don't own and can't fill?
I'm a huge romantic for the old Big East. I want schools like Georgetown and St. Johns and UConn to succeed. But they are not the way the wind is blowing currently.
I guess my logic is something along the lines of, "What's the first thing to pop into your head when I say ____?"
But you are right, they have cratered, somewhat because they held onto JT3 for too long and somewhat conference re-alignment, not sure on a percentage breakdown of those two. I was also thinking that you could attribute most of the history of those two programs to both of those coaches.
as an aside, without any bias, I thought Crean got a raw deal being fired from IU. He took over that program when they were probably at their lowest point ever and had them #1 in 5 years. The year after the sanctions, Indiana was arguably the worst team in D-I basketball.
