Honest question...do you really think we can be Kentucky or Duke? Its this unrealistic rhetoric that makes the fall so hard for people. We are much closer to Utah and LSU than we are to Kentucky and Duke. Ive never understood why we do this exercise.

We get a 5 star player once or twice a decade. We have a great team every 15-20 years. Now compare that to Duke and Kentucky.
I mean, Gonzaga turned themselves into a yearly power. Why the fudge can’t we?

Not Iowa
Speaking of Kentucky... check this out..
Don’t worry. Iowa will fix it. A thorough investigation followed by firing the popcorn maker at Carver-Hawkeye who was clearly the root cause, and they move on.

Somewhere Fran is screaming at someone unrelated to any of this and probably calling them a cheater.....

226 Forbes? It’s been 51 years, but I might’ve occupied that room for a year.
Slim, it was my dorm room freshman year in 1983 - 38 years ago. We only missed each other by 13 years. My freshman year the football team went to the Rose Bowl and the basketball team lost in the Elite Eight ironically to Kentucky at Rupp Arena (the Dickie Beale "no travel" call). I thought Rose Bowls and Elite Eights would be the norm:)

That does clarify it, thanks. To that I would say that they would be happy, but string several of those in a row without getting past that point and I think you see some changes.

That said, I would expect that at pretty much any program.
Well said.

Just for those of you doubting bass, he did a QNA on his Instagram story yesterday and someone asked why he chose Illinois. He responded with: “everything”

You will probably be shocked then.
Based on his mom's twitter activity alone, I am highly suspect of this. She was liking/retweeting a bunch of different Illinois-related material today. That, plus him being an Illinois boy, plus us being one of the first (the first?) high-major to offer him, all suggests one assistant is going to make or break his commitment. Guess we'll see.

Honestly, what are people supposed to say? "I don't care if North Carolina offers me a trillion-dollar contract tattooed on Charlize Theron's butt, I'll never leave this job"? People leave jobs for better ones.
As your unofficial lawyer, I'll need to take that contract home with me and look it over.

Would hate to lose OA but getting a little tired of whoever has the most money gets the brass ring mentality. Unfortunitely thats the way the world is. If he goes he goes. Life will go on.

I really hope that BU appreciates this, and doesn't ask for a raise, if they are paying that much for assistants to help him be as good as he can be. But what do I know?
We just finished the season ranked #2 and won the BTT.
If JW doesn't give BU a decent pay bump, I'd be surprised.

He is potentially getting what, a 2x raise? Can't see everyone getting that kind of bump. They seem committed to keeping the culture so I'm sure they won't let discontent brew.
Would Illinois counter-counter offer or is that our last offer?

Maybe but if OA signs with KY this costs JW nothing at all and his phone will be ringing off the hook with zillions of great replacement candidates hoping to become at least the second best paid asst. coach for us.

Heck this is probably even better than using Monster.com or Indeed to fill this position! LOL
So, does AO's money go to Chen if he leaves for KY?

I would think the head coach makes the big difference, not worried.........yet.

I know that obtaining actual correct information on an internet site is rather difficult. So far in this thread, OA is leaving, OA is officially gone,
with new offer OA is staying, my guess is that at the current moment OA is thinking about all of this. He would be a dam fool not to consider all of
his alternatives, but does anyone really know what is the current status of OA's decision. I am not really worried about it because I trust that BU
will find quality replacements if OA and Chin leave. As long as BU is not in the market looking, I really don't care. Just curious if anyone actually knows
what the truth of what is happening.

Most importantly, thoughts and prayers with the Clarke family. Very sad to see this.

At this point, it appears that Coach Antigua can’t go wrong. Josh Whitman and Underwood have done everything they can. Of course I’m hoping Antigua stays. But, I’ll respect his decision 100%. Illinois should be grateful they have had him for 4 years with a shot at more.

Same goes for Coach Coleman. They are clearly very good at their jobs and this is the result. We’re putting up a fight for our staff and they deserve it. Excited for what’s ahead.

Go Illini
