and he hired JL to be his “analyst & advisor “ so that Henry has a little more guidance than Walters had the previous two years
that’s a solid coaching duo, which means it’s probably the players not being, idk, top 70 nfl draft picks including a top 5 pick who has been called the best corner in the league as a rookie.

good players make mistakes, great players cover up mistakes

It's Henry's first year as coordinator; you have to give him some opportunity to grow into the role. It was a calculated risk and it's too soon to say it isn't going to work. Walter was considered a failure at Mizzou, look where he is now
Right where we want him: running Purdue into the ground. Seriously, though, his long-term recruiting chops remain to be proven.

Agreed on Aaron. He needs time to develop. Maybe Ryan (as a HC) does, too.

Reading between the lines, I think Momma Leonhard wants some stability for now. Going to sunny southern Cali at USC even with a million plus a year, doesn't scream stability. Especially with that program. Especially with cost of living.
Now, being in the Midwest, got a nice payout from Wisky, and being paid a salary from UofI. It's almost a retirement... nice yearly pension, nice payout already in the bank. No pressure, time with family, etc.

I don't know man. That USC offer has to be unreal for me to consider.

He certainly is in a position to take it slow if he wants.
Plenty of other opportunities will be presenting themselves in the next 2-3 months as well as the next 14 months.
Im not 100% sold on getting involved with the USC program right now either - even if they are an historic blue blood

Fake account ...

But what he said is true ... USC is targeting Jimmy ... Jimmy turned down the initial USC offer but they have come back with a stronger offer ... I still think it's unlikely he accepts that ... But it is a pretty strong offer ...
Sounds like they need Will Wade to come in and seal the deal with a strong-@$$ offer...

or maybe UCLA can teach them how booster extraordinaire Sam Gilbert made things happen for Wooden in the 1960's - 70's

I'll always have a soft spot for Babers as he was the coach at EIU and is a big part of the reason that Jimmy Garoppolo was a 2nd round pick in the NFL Draft.
I went back to check. My recollection was a bit off. In hindsight, it's interesting to think what would have happened if Whitman was there in 2015 for the Beckman firing. I've got to believe that there's no way he extends Cubit. Babers would have been in play at that point.

Katie doesn’t want to move to California …

Jimmy and family live on 30 some acres … Like I’ve said … It’ll take a nearly perfect opportunity that Katie is on board with … From everything Jimmy has said … This ain’t about money or title to him anymore … It’s about famILLy …

If our defense doesn’t fair well Saturday, any possibility he’s our defensive coordinator next year?

Aaron Henry will be our defensive coordinator next year … This isn’t a Tony Petersen situation …
Could Leonard be our associate head coach next year? With an emphasis on defense. (But definitely not the defensive coordinator)
