One game, quick evaluation and turnaround? Rick Majerus, all day. If that guy could have or wanted to recruit he could have been am All-time, All-time great. Already one of the best. For me, easy choice.
He was dang good.
He kinda had a rep as a keen X’s and O’s guy. He was highly thought of as BIGs coach I believe too. I like his Reverse-Action Offense, stuff.

It's ironic, the crazier the money gets, the less important it ends up becoming for some people. As it should be.
So confused...

Personally I'm hoping Oats doesn't leave Alabama, my son will start going there in the fall.

He was a heck of a recruiter when he worked for McGuire at Marquette

If I remember right, he was quoted as saying he would crawl over broken glass to have an opportunity to take the Illinois job. He was a heck of a coach and just a great guy

One thing about UK, they have won national titles under 5 different coaches, with North Carolina and Kansas next closest at 3. They're fine without Cal and they know it.

I do think there is a lot of goodwill there for him, he has always kept them in a position where they can push right to the front of the line for any recruit at any time, and that is what is closest to their keyboard jockey army's heart. But there is an undeniable whiff of the game having passed Cal by at this point.

He would probably have been great at the U Of I, if that had happened. Supposedly we could of had Thad Matta too?? (Someone said that on here…or did I dream that one up?)

This may be a silly question, but why does Texas want Cal anyway? He can recruit, but it's not as though UK is winning championships.
One only needs to look at their recent history.. They are very conceded and truly believe they can buy themselves a good team and coach and win a championship... But I don't see it happening with Cal!

It's remarkable that Cal has had at least five future NBA players on his roster every year at UK, but has only made it to the Final Four 3 out of 13 years.

Ok, so to update if understanding this correctly.

Shrewsbury to Indiana
Cal to Texas
Oates/Miller/musselman to UK
Antigua to?
Chin back to AAU circuit?

Alright I threw those last 2 in for fun, I bet BU is eating 🍿 watching this unfold
