Canzano: San Diego State and SMU eye Pac-12
A look at the expansion conversation in the Pac-12.

The TV deal being better without them (which is what this means) might actually be a somewhat positive sign, relative to the extremely bleak state of the situation generally.Woof. Bleak as heck for the Pac-XX. San Diego State tells the Mountain West they're no longer planning on leaving.
This feels like a MAJOR ask from ND and not likely to happen. Below are their home or considered home games in the coming years.

Notre Dame looking for B1G money as an independent
Yeah part of ND's problem is they don't play enough big draw opponents since half their schedule are crappy ACC teams. If they were in the B10 or god forbid the SEC they would have a higher quality level and draw in teams played. This feels like a MAJOR ask from ND and not likely to happen. Below are their home or considered home games in the coming years.
2023: Navy (Ireland), Tennessee State, Central Michigan, Ohio State*, USC*, Pitt, Wake Forest
2024: Northern Illinois, Miami of Ohio, Louisville, Stanford, Navy, Florida State*, Virginia, Miami of Florida*
2025: Texas A&M*, Purdue, USC*, Navy, NC State, Syracuse - only 10 games listed, so likely another home TBD
With only two marcee home games (*) per year, I don't think that they have enough draw (viewers) to demand ~$70 mil annually. If they join the B1G, and play Navy and another good team for nonconference games, then ND and the B1G will likely see a higher annual media payout, over current levels.
But in the B1G, seems like NBC loses exclusivitygotta think NBC wants them in the B1G - that’s where their real value is maximized .
exclusive to see ND play Bowling Green. , NIU, or Middle Tenn or have them part of the B1G game schedule very other week? But in the B1G, seems like NBC loses exclusivity

Good catch, I meant 'marquee'. English was not my best subject in school and all of the French, Greek, Latin, etc. word origins does not help lol. What does a character from Married...with Children have to do with any of this?
These scattered realignments may make financial cents but they make no geographical sense. Hate 'em.Big 12 adds four new schools

Kind of like USC and UCLA.These scattered realignments may make financial cents but they make no geographical sense. Hate 'em.
I do agree with the general sentiment that B1G games are worth more than Bowling Green & NIU, but not convinced being in the B1G really changes that dynamic because of a desire to stack home games & a few extra wins to insure Bowl eligibility.exclusive to see ND play Bowling Green. , NIU, or Middle Tenn or have them part of the B1G game schedule very other week?
their value is against good teams, not MAC or Sun Belt teams
I see this as ND's Hail Mary to stay independent. When it falls, they can tell their fans and boosters "we tried" before they bite the bullet and join the B1G.

pretty much how I see this as well.I see this as ND's Hail Mary to stay independent. When it falls, they can tell their fans and boosters "we tried" before they bite the bullet and join the B1G.

It’s just a matter of time for ND to join the B1G, but is it 2-3 years or 2036?
My bet is FSU and Miami get out of the GOR well before 2036 and we’ll see the B1G get to 20 or more, with ND being one of them.
I expect it will be a tough road to hoe for ACC schools. With the lower, locked in contract, the funding will be lower, and that will have a cumulative effect in the college football arms race. If the programs get worse because of it, it's a vicious cycle that keeps them on the ACC treadmill. If they can buy out 3-4 years ahead of schedule, that's still a long time from now.
Rowing hoes is worse still.hoeing rows really, really sucks. hoeing roads is even worse, I imagine

Hoe, Hoe, Hoe….Happy Realignment to all!I never tried it myself. Seems like asphalt and concrete were meant to be un-hoed
