I know we are suppose to play defense but how about try some offense? I rather run and gun than watch this. Out shoot them is our only chance.

Just a thought, since we can't stop anyone defensively in the half court anyway. Why not press? We're SUPPOSE to have a deep roster. Don't think that we would get blown out any worse than we are, & if we do, who cares?

I agree but I honestly dont think this groups Bball IQ is high enough . They make too many mistakes as is to ask them to speed it up could possibly make things worse .

Yep. I want every kid that comes through Champaign to feel some success. When you commit to Illinois, you expect to play in the tourney multiple times if not every year. Those guys did not get the college experience that they signed up for.

We hired a coach 5 years ago that got lucky getting his Ohio team to the sweet sixteen. I hate hire coaches that make this run in the tournament and become these "hot" coaches....we got screwed once again

I've been a fan of these guys, but coaching isn't the only reason they get blown out consistently.

Nobody stole it from them. I've given up on Groce - but one could argue these players failed to seize the opportunity they were given. They failed to uphold the standard that was entrusted to them.

When you have a coach as inept and incompetent as Groce has been it falls on him and his inability to teach defense or offense. They were never given a chance.

Absolutely some of the blame is on the kids. But ultimately, I give a much greater percentage of the blame to the coach. He gets paid to teach these guys the game of basketball and get them ready to compete. Our team is regularly unprepared and has terrible fundamentals.
