B1G is a physical, defensive league.

I really don’t think it’s as physical as it used to be. (Maybe if you’re Purdue). I feel like the officiating doesn’t allow it be nearly as physical as it once was. Some teams are still playing great defense though. Some teams don’t play as good of defense as some think. They just slow the game down and limit offensive opportunities. The exact opposite of what we are going to do.

Maybe the term lock down defense was too strong. But you know what I meant. There were still times when we thought we could hold teams to certain totals. That’s no longer a thing. I’m not saying it won’t happen, it might. That should be the exception with our team now and not the rule. The rule should be that we score fast and often. And hopefully do just enough that our opponent scores a little less.

Seems to work pretty well for that team in Chapel Hill.

I think the term is , was, times are changing. Good defense when needed will always win games. Strategy and finesse seems to be way of the game now. Being physical and big never hurts, think the 3point line changed all that. Steph Curry and Warriors?;)

Not sure if this has been brought up yet, but per Tejon's snapchat, Leron is already out of his sling and has been for about a week.

Media day is when I miss having Taylor Rooks around. Actually, I miss her all the time but especially media day.:D

In all seriousness, she usually has great questions. Both fun and serious.

My head hurts after listening to that........lol.

I am 90% sure he is trying to be the next Rodman, tatted, earrings, fingernail polish, ridiculous logic....everyone has to have a niche, even if someone had it before them. Rodman made a lot of $$$ from that routine, so Beasley could also I suppose.

On the other hand I am also 90% sure Rooks is smoking hot!:chief:

Illini twitter just posted a short snippet of some half-court 4 on 4 work. It was only one possession but this is IL, so lets over-analyze

Group with the ball: Trent/Alstork/Kipper/Smith...Trent guarded by Lucas, Alstork guarded by AJ, Kipper guarded by Domante and Finke was guarding Smith(?)

Team really moved the ball well, Trent had a nice one hand dish to Smith for an acrobatic lay-up over AJ.

Damonte had a very clear defensive breakdown, but looks like he's doing live-scrimmages and going full go which is great.

I appreciate an overanalyzation as much as the next guy, but I’m 100% sure that is a shell drill.

When I played in high school, shell drill meant everyone stayed inside the arc, and you passed the ball around without trying to necessarily score. But that was a long time ago, you're probably right! I'm just itching for some basketball

Just a practicing of defensive principles. We pressure out and deny, hence the extended setup.

Yeah, ive seen multiple drills called the shell drill at this point. Some offensive, some defensive. Never even bothered to research what the original shell drill is.
