A lot of Ayo highlights in a winning effort!
Andre had the 3rd most assists over the 2000-2010 timespan, behind Steve Nash and Jason Kidd. Sits at 11th all time right now (LeBron and CP3 have since passed him). Ayo is and always has been more of a scorer that generates assists within the flow of the offense -- he isn't a one-man offense orchestrator a la Miller, Kidd, Nash, CP, LBJ, or our guy D Will. And that's not a slight to Ayo -- those one-man floor setters are a rare breed and even rarer these days, with the tilt towards scoring PGs (Curry, Lillard, etc.).Way more athletic? Meh. More athletic, yes. Andre was more athletic than his pudgy build would have led you to believe. Ayo is 6’5” 200 compared to Andre being 6’3” 200.
His first 16 years in the league he averaged 14 pts, 7 Asts (3:1 A/TO ratio) and 4 Rebs. One knock is that his 3 pt shooting was bad. But he was very good on 2’s and a very good free throw shooter.
I don’t think they are totally different players.
But Fleischer said the group should quickly have seven-figure funds with the ability to hand out six-figure deals to the team’s most marketable stars, likely men’s basketball players like Kofi Cockburn and Andre Curbelo, the latter who already partnered with the group to market their initiative. The goal is to put to work a sizable, passionate Illini fans base to make Illinois among the most competitive in the NIL field and entice student-athletes to attend Illinois and stay at Illinois. It would be. No indication the numbers are coming in that high.
Well, I actually kinda believe it. But 6 figures is a big range and my guess is that this will be on the very low end of that range. Kofi has a nice deal with OSF. Other noteworthy deals are not evident. But Fleischer said the group should quickly have seven-figure funds with the ability to hand out six-figure deals to the team’s most marketable stars, likely men’s basketball players like Kofi Cockburn and Andre Curbelo, the latter who already partnered with the group to market their initiative. From the article in the NIL thread if you can believe it.
He's sort of like a more athletic Larry Bird.Who is a “comp” for Ayo, talent-wise, personality, work ethic, maturity, etc. at his age? I can’t think of one but I’m sure they exist or existed, right?
That's all a matter of perspective. Kevin Warren is very reliable if you are a Buckeye or Wolverine. It's more reliable than Kevin Warren.
You beat me to it, I have been wanting to post that for about a week, but was afraid I would get pelted with large stones. His passing has really improved, along with just about every aspect of his game. He's sort of like a more athletic Larry Bird.
After 16 years, if Ayo averaged those numbers, we should be ecstatic. That was the original question. I think a great comp for him would be those numbers. Andre Miller was a tough defender, intangibles, high IQ bball player.Andre had the 3rd most assists over the 2000-2010 timespan, behind Steve Nash and Jason Kidd. Yes. A proud description of how cool it was. It almost sounds like Demar was jealous…Cool video of Demar and Ayo on his jersey night.
