Late night ramblings ... great atmosphere at Carver-Hawkeye today. Per the Iowa athletics website, doors open 90 minutes before game time. We arrived a little after 10:00am for a 12:00pm tip-off, and by that time, all of the parking lots were darn near full already. I know that the game was a sellout, and there were very few no-shows .. if any. I wonder how much ice cream was sold. All of the lines for the "Carver Cones" zig-zagged back & forth like an airport TSA check-in line. I think that it would be fair to say that 95% of the kids under 16 that attended were wearing a #22 shirshey ... as well as probably about 25% of the adults. I loved our effort today against the #4 team in the country. I know that Caitlin Clark would help fill up State Farm Center if she comes back for next season ... but selfishly, I hope she heads to the WNBA. Let's win our last 2 regular season games and then have a strong showing in the Big Ten tourney. I think we have proven in the last month that we can play with any team in this conference.

Here is one that shows Iowa's class as #9. By the way, nine Big Eighteen classes are ranked in the top 25, but not Illinois: https://www.espn.com/womens-college...-college-basketball-recruiting-class-rankings
Just looking at that real quick here is what I noticed

Women's recruiting updates aren't updated often. I have no problem with Illinois being outside the top 25 and they were listed as an additional team at the bottom of the article. I am excited about Berry Wallace and we have a post player in Smith coming in but she is under the radar. Majority of top teams have 2-4 recruits coming in that are rated top few hundred likely.

Think we have replied on here randomly but the Illini are putting full court attention on Divine Bourrage in the '25 class. Know they would love to have Bourrage/Jackson come in as freshman after Cook/Bryant are gone. Think I am over optimistic but know the staff have seen her play 3-4 times this season and Bourrage has visited campus 3 times since November.

Land Dolan '23, Wallace '24 and maybe few in '25 (hopefully Bourrage) than Green and company are building this program faster than I would have thought.

Good to see Dolan get more playing time as our starters are typically exhausted by Q4

JMO - she is 5'10". Should be getting more rebounds. Shooting suffers from small sample size.

I agree about the rebounding but Green is using Dolan as a floor spacer and running her from corner to corner and from the low block to the 3-point line. The problem is that the guards seldom make the extra pass to her. I noticed in the Iowa game that they were overplaying her so she is showing up on the opponent's scouting report.

This is embarrassing. This is a new coach at Michigan State.

I may wait until a good nights sleep before I watch the tape. I did look at the box score. Even after going 0-5 in fourth quarter, Sparty still shot 52.9% from 3. We went 3-15 for 20%. Yikes.
Another steady performance from KB and same from Dal. Not good shooting night it appears for our guards. Disappointing. It felt like we were playing better. Hope we send seniors out with a win against Nebraska.

Played Nebraska pretty close in Jan
except on the boards. Bostic needs some help there.

At the same % it was before this game.....having to win the Conference Tournament. It comes down to almost zero chance like you put though

Ohio St, Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska and Michigan St are given teams to make the dance.

Michigan, Maryland and Penn St are all on the bubble. Michigan has Purdue left at home, Penn St has Minnesota at home and Maryland at Indiana. I might be wrong on this but I think the first Big Ten team not to make the dance automatically qualifies for the WNIT. If all three of them make the tourney, either we make the WNIT with a win vs Nebraska or Wisconsin losing to Michigan St. Ton of what ifs right now but little stuff to keep track of if want Illinois to play on. Hope we make WNIT or WBIT.....I will take the baby steps

Mich St just brought an overwhelming assault to start the game and had Illini rattled & on their heels most of the first half. Illinois fought back in second-half, but Mich St was just the better team.
