Illinois 48, Indiana 45 OT Postgame

What a sweet gut wrenching win. A major concern, however, is the number of penalties on the football team and number of missed free throws on the bb team have a common theme...plentiful. Got to clean it up. ILL.....

Had we kicked the extra point instead of going for 2 there would not have been an overtime.
Very true Granda. Another fun fact, if worms had machine guns, birds wouldn't screw with them.

Also a mini shout out to the game thread. I don't get to participate much because I'm usually working the friendly skies on the weekends...but today it could have been a complete sh#t show, but it really wasn't! Most of us hung in there for Peak Paddock and it was totally worth it!

It was pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Agreed, nice crew of fans in the game thread today.

You can't convince me Paddock shouldn't start next week. In a sea of horrible things, from spitting?!? to incompetent play calling both defensively and offensively, he was incredible.
Speaking of play calling…. I thought the Illini should have passed on 3rd down in their last possession of regulation to get a first down and run the clock out. They were going to leave enough time for Indiana to score a TD whether they ran (and came up short) or threw incomplete.

Play call was infuriating. They had not been able to match Isaiah all day, and did not even really shift much to bite on the misdirection motion. Paddock should have had the freedom to kill the play to a quick hitter to Isaiah in that scenario if you're attempting to use him as a decoy and they don't adjust for it.

I’ve watched Illinois football since the 70’s and it seems like every BIG opponent has thrown in a backup qb that has the game of their life against us when they were counted out. Of all those years this is the first time I can remember it ever happening in our favor, on our team. Can any old timers remember any other backup qb who made good for more than a play or two?

I know everyone is all about the Paddock wagon right now but IU's defense was BAD BAD BAD. Leaving receivers open, letting them get over the top, not providing much in the way of pressure against a line that has been giving it up all year. Definitely helped make his job easier.
Sure, but we aren't arguing Paddock for Heisman here. To my untrained eyes, one quarterback looks to be on top of his game where the other has been a B- (which is still great for an Illini QB no doubt).
