Illinois 69, Ohio State 60 Postgame

Bill Self used to call the 3's "fool's gold." He is right. You hit a couple here and there - either in a game, or in our case early in the season - and fall in love with it and forget about playing good offense. We are not a good 3 point shooting team, and excel with feeding DD down low and driving to the hoop. But we don't do those things nearly enough. Let the threes come as a result of doing those things and it's fine. Standing around then firing a closely contested one up at the end of the shot clock is not. But solid win hopefully to build momentum back.
Lol. That was like 10 years ago. And no he isn't correct. Analytics have proven otherwise. Ask him today. Or any other good div 1 coach.

Great win Illini.................Elite defense most of the game was a big reason we won.......osu went on an 8-0 run to close out the game , so final score not reflective of the Illini domination.......so glad ej liddell went on to other pastures................

The back to back dunks by cohawk off the Rodgers assist was awesome , as was the return of the favor of cohawk to TY for the slamma.....

Now onto the Blues beating (hopefully ) the sabres for old pru's favorite double double................

bucky on Saturday and another Illini victory........

BU on the radio post game.............................

rebounding was big key
total team effort
we spent a lot of time on defense
cohawk was outstanding .....9 rebs.....6 assists....11 points (I think)
Ty was huge tonight,,,,,,,,,,,offensive rebs..................great D
when we can run we are explosive
we were more rested ....only missed 2 FT's tonight

Lieb comes in and blocks 2 shots......so proud of him

The many faces of the University of Illinois Fighting Illini..........................

another one bites the dust ...........another one bites the dust...................time for my meds.....................peace out my friends........

TSJ gets fouled on the drive almost every time. He gets bodied hard and only gets the call about 1/2 the time. The last one was ridiculous. When he fights through it and doesn’t go flying onto the ground it gets called more consistentTSJ gets Kofi level fouls....or not. He should obviously get more calls.

We just Completely shut down a solid OSU team defensively and cruised for nearly the entire second half and it seems like crickets here. 🤷‍♂️ Give our boys some:illinois: ❤️
Yup, I always find it hilarious how few comments there are after a win and how many we have after a loss. I am the exact opposite. I can't get off this site fast enough after we lose. I don't want to read anyone's complaining tbh.

When we play together and have some swagger it’s so fun to watch. Thought the defense was really good tonight. Although, there were a few lapses after we took a bad offensive shot. Despite not getting anything to drop, RJ had a really good defensive game. And Coleman playing within himself is just awesome. Need wayyyy more of that.

Offense just clicks when we’re moving, driving, and cutting. We get such easy shots! But when the ball sticks in someone’s hand, it can look quite bad. I think that’s why we find it hard to stay up by large margins. When we try to slow the game down and run clock, the ball doesn’t move and it’s just 1-on-1.

Maybe the 6pm gametime killed the energy in here like in did in the arena. It felt like crickets for a vast majority of the game outside of nuggets free throws.

Another great defensive outing. Kept them off the 3 point line and shooting a lot of mid range shots. Gave up some offensive rebounds early but once they got that under control there was no looking back. Sensabaugh had 9 points fairly early but once he got in foul trouble Illinois took him out of rhythm in the 2nd

That was a nice TEAM effort tonight. Guys looking like they are having fun playing the game tonight. Hoping Indiana was truly an outlier. Keep attacking the paint. 5-1 over the last 6 game stretch let's keep it rolling.

I don't remember Self calling three point shots fool's gold. He did refer to getting a big lead early as fools gold, but I don't ever recall him saying that about the three point shot.

"Kansas University’s basketball team, which lost its first Big 12 game of the season Tuesday night, 74-63, actually led, 14-9, early in Tuesday’s loss at West Virginia, thanks to some early three-point success.

'It was fool’s gold. We were up 13-9 and hadn’t thrown it inside but once,' KU coach Bill Self said.

'We made three threes, but if you go back and watch the tape, I bet you we had not gotten three 50/50 balls that should have been ours,' the coach continued."

Epps is doing a great job of learning on the fly to be a P5 point guard in the toughest P5 conference. He did a pretty good job of not letting the ball stick tonight. Point guard really is the head of the snake in college BB. We are going to enjoy having this young man hopefully for the next 4 years. Kids a player.

Looking at Net rankings O$U is 24th so this is currently a quad 1 win.

I would have thought their losing streak they wouldn’t have been that high
