Illinois 79, Wisconsin 69 Postgame

Offseason? WHAT Offseason?

There are only THREE Stages of One's Entire Life:

1. Playing basketball.

2. Waiting until you play basketball next.

3. Watching others play basketball while thinking about basketball yourself.

Or, when the old knees are shot, I would submit:

1. Playing golf
2. Planning your next golf round and knee replacement surgery
3. Watching basketball and golf, and thinking “I used to could do that!”

Just rewatched the game. I must have forgotten how bad the first 7 minutes were, offensively. 4 points.

However, we scored 75 points in the 33 minutes following.

This team can score when focused. I find myself excited for the next game instead of anxious.

So this afternoon I was in Louisiana at the Tabasco factory when the Illini got hot and I wasn’t able to watch the game, just track the score. Weather was so hot I took off my “I”-labeled pullover, exposing the Orange “Hail to the Orange” T-shirt I had caught at an Illini women’s basketball game. Look, I’ll wear the T-shirt and the Tabasco I can certainly managebut the team is going to have to do without me being in Cajun country.

Is this our team? Or did we just have hot shooting game (>50% 3p)? I personally think our 3p shooting against Wisconsin was an outlier and we shouldn't count on that.

I would like to believe this is beginning of a new run and back to our original top 10 team we all believed in after the Texas win....then came Penn State and Mizzou.

We need to string a couple of these together and we'll feel much better about our chances.

Can't help but ask: can I go back to thinking that CoHawk can, indeed, "be consistently deadly from deep"?

Of course, I said that about RJ, too.
Fixed it.

And the answer is still a NO, based upon 2-1/2 years of evidence. But with that said, perhaps he's about to turn the corner.
