So who do we have a shot with along the defensive front, while not having grade issues? IF Becks makes it another year he needs more depth up front. A CB who is a good cover corner would be a nice add too. And maybe another safety... and... a few other things.

There are already 3 players committed, and all expected to redshirt so the cupboard isn't bare

Ken Ruff ILB on sites but projected as a DE from Florida
Jordan Gilberti WDE from Florida
Ken McLaurin SDE/DT from Texas
Willie Baker DE from Louisiana

There are more but those are the highlights, I would like to get 2 or 3 of these guys to fill out depth but if just one commits it would be a solid class for the D-Line. Only 6 or 20 steps down from Michigan St but very solid for Illinois

Gilberti 3* 5.7 as te or de/leo
Ruff 3* 5.7 leo/sde 3* 5.55 as mlb
McLaurin 3* 5.65 3tech
Baker I will look for tape.
Point being any of these guys would be nice additions. Well yes need to see baker but you know the other 3.

Juco Elijah Camara is very high on the list.
McLaurin - confidence level is dropping on him, adding offers & scheduling visits, but we can't get him on campus
Baker - that would be a homerun commit, but haven't heard anything positive

I don't expect Illinois to make a move.. his grades are thumbs downnnn

I thought the only reason he committed to Western Michigan was due to his low grades. If he is back on the market, perhaps his grades have improved enough to be looked at by Big 10 schools.

Baker I was looking for more burst and quick twitch he is very determined or a grinder like with vvg ability save the aforementioned. He received a 3* 5.6 while Camara came in with a borderline 3* 5.55.
Meantime Brandon Jones he also received a 3* 5.6 for sde.

I know this is your area of expertise but I like Kenyon Jackson more than Watts this year and Milan and Annan last year as defensive tackle projects. I think he will play alot and play well as a redshirt Freshman. I like Baker more than you do. Ruff is my favorite for sure though

Jacob most years I go back and watch senior tapes on our commits, feel free to remind after the season if you like. Watts an Jackson I agree Watts a 5.7, Jackson was a 5.75.

Thanks. I just hate the fact that for last 3 years we haven't been able to stop the run.

If his grades were better, he would have heard from Illinois. The reason he committed to WMU so early is because PJ Fleck puts guys on the spot and says "commit now or else we're moving on from you" and he gave in and committed.

Yes and for whatever good it does they are talking a sign and place.

Just like Matt Domer, Merrick Jackson, and Paul James. At least James made it back into school. The future doesn't look good on this one

Yeah but it's not that bad of a situation. If Ballard commits and gets in - great. If Ballard commits but has to go JUCO and gets in - great. If Ballard commits but has to go JUCO and things don't work out - oh well we already have a decent receiving corps. Ballard is better than any WR we still have on the board so there would be no downside in getting/taking his commitment.

I would guess that Moran will be suiting up for a different school next year

Little premature he said he was thinking about the coming game tonight I believe. Yes he may leave . The way I am looking at is all bets are off, and clench your butt checks real tight.:tsk::mad:

Fair, but he was already receiving a fair amount of negative recruiting re illinois which I expect to increase significantly. My gut reaction is that he starts to listen and look at other options.
