Great tweet from Isaiah Williams. Really don’t want him to follow Patterson.
This sounds like a team captain at Illinois talking. Way to go IW!These quotes make me feel a lot better about him staying at Illinois.
More like ... when was the last time we looked at top 150 player when recruiting that wasn't someone like the coach's son? Especially a quarterback rated that high?Altmyer was a top 150 player out of HS i believe, he got an Offer from Alabama. That should tell people how talented and the type of potential he has. Anyone dismissing him coming here, are not thinking clearly.
Careful...ND might nose us out....shhhhhhhAnd what an amazing snap it twas. Utter brilliance. I can tell by just one snap he is that QB we need. I beg, I plead. For us to get him! A person who a mere week ago none of us had ever heard of, and now he is critical in our eyes!
No, incomplete pass.Did....did they get it?
Yeah I think the correct level of excitement and expectation level for Altmyer would be that of a really big recruit, which he was and still basically is.More like ... when was the last time we looked at top 150 player when recruiting that wasn't someone like the coach's son? If that second one is downside I don’t even understand what upside is anymore!Yeah I think the correct level of excitement and expectation level for Altmyer would be that of a really big recruit, which he was and still basically is.
It's a coup to get him, the possibilities are huge, buuuuuuuuuuut let's not get too far ahead of ourselves about what we've *guaranteed* ourselves.
(And there are two added pieces of downside, first if things go really bad early, it's not like he's a true freshman, this is a veteran collegian, it's probably not a problem that patience fixes. And then second, on the flip side, if he's unbelievable, he can enter the 2024 draft)
Welcome to the terrifying house of mirrors that is my brain. If that second one is downside I don’t even understand what upside is anymore!
Lettuce bee reality. If he enters the 24 draft as a QB that means:Yeah I think the correct level of excitement and expectation level for Altmyer would be that of a really big recruit, which he was and still basically is.

100%. Good things are always good.Lettuce bee reality. If he enters the 24 draft as a QB that means:
1. We probably won the BIG West
2. We probably were in contention for a playoff spot.
3. We wouldn't have much trouble replacing him in the portal with the success of him and TDV.
Though, I guess I should add: Altmyer could absolutely be a first round pick in 2024 despite us going 7-5 or something.Lettuce bee reality. If he enters the 24 draft as a QB that means:

As long as they keep giving the Bears draft picks, I suppose anything is possible.Though, I guess I should add: Altmyer could absolutely be a first round pick in 2024 despite us going 7-5 or something.
