Seems like the first step, yes? Apparently they are developing lifelike female, ah, robots in Japan. Combine that realism with a ChatGPT interface and maybe that is the start of the cyborg army.
Than again, lifelike female robots that can hold half a conversation could destroy the birth rate and be the end of humanity as well.

Well, I liked 'em at the time, and liked the helmet, and have fond memories of them. The blue-on-blue not so much, but apparently they were popular as White deployed them often.

I was never a fan really of that 1970’s era knockoff of the Bengals helmet . For lack of nothing better , the blue block I on our orange helmet is fine .

The ILLINI so awkwardly low down and close to the earhole ruins the whole thing.

I might agree if the Illini logo weren't so bizarrely down by the earhole.
Under Bob Blackman they went with this as a helmet, echoing Blackman's prior stint at Dartmouth with those stripes running across the top:
Then Gary Moeller took over and got rid of the stripes and just....left the logo in that weird spot despite plenty of real estate to move it up into a normal position

How we looking at the prospects of this for this week?
I am in the camp of being obsessed with knowing about our new uniforms, but at this point I almost kind of want them to wait until right before the season starts.
Maybe that's stupid. Either way, I can't wait to see the new look of Bielema-ing Illini.

I'm honestly very excited, too. Haha. Here's the thing - you cannot ALWAYS have a good team; very few programs (let alone ones as historically unsuccessful as our dear Illini) avoid rebuilding years. When we are in rough times, I at least want the things we CAN control to give me pride in the Illini. That includes everything from visiting fans telling me how beautiful Memorial Stadium is (FIX THE HORSESHOE!), how fun of a tailgating atmosphere Grange Grove has become (grow those trees faster to actually make it a grove!) and, of course, the Illini looking mighty stylish on that field. On that last note, I have REALLY come to appreciate how unique and catchy our color scheme is within the Big Ten, and there is no excuse for us not to have some really cool, classic jerseys. I am optimistic we are about to get this one right.
Haven’t heard one way or another. They way Bret normally is and with the forecast looking iffy I’d bet we don’t see them until week 1

They're going to be released on social media in the week or two before the first game. That's how these things are almost always done.

I think it's a good move. That's a very clean look, that is frankly more appropriate for the Big Ten. They can break out the flag for special occasions, but every game is just too much.
