In regards to the Charlie Moore recruitment, sevreral sources around Chicago said Moore was looking for 30K from the school he was commiting to.

Here we go. Did he also require $30K when he first announced for Memphis and if so did he have to return it? Is he even worth $30K? Does this narrative change if Whitman hires Cuanzo to succeed Gorce? So many questions...

Who cares at this point why he decided to go to Cal. It won't change anything at this point, and I think it's bad form to hope a kid fails. It's an amazing opportunity for a kid to get a chance at a 4 year degree from a great school for free. Cal had a pretty solid team last year, and actually made the NCAA tournament.

I wish Charlie the best of luck from this point forward, and I look forward to watching the players that do want to be at :illinois:.

No way he is a first rounder.

This is the NBA.

Ulis is a first round pick, some mocks even have him to the bulls at 14. He wasn't big enough to play at Illinois either was he? I'm rooting for him and I think he will be successful. Continuing to undermine his talents because we whiffed on him is such a bad look.

I like Ulis' chances of being a good NBA player. Not a superstar, he'll always be limited by his size, but he uses angles and leverage to get his shot up as well as any little guy I've seen and he is just an absolute warrior of a player. He's a culture-making guy, and NBA teams want that.

Exactly. Everyone bashed him before college, and even freshman year - myself included - but dude balled out. He'll get drafted 14-22. He's a lock for a first rounder

This isn't me being a hater, but I'd venture to say he won't get a second nba contract. I think he's got good footwork and everything, but he just doesn't have the other freak essentials to survive as a short nba player like strength (i.e. earl boykins and nate robinson), or scoring ability (Isaiah Thomas and ty lawson[denver ty]).

I could easily be wrong, but I'm still not buying the hype particularly in this 2000ish looking draft class where numerous 1st round guys wont get second contracts.

I see him as a solid backup for 10 years provided he doesn't get hurt. He's an elite ball handler with a great basketball IQ. That is complemented by some very good quickness. Pretty much ideal for 12 - 15 mpg backup.

Totally disagree. I like this draft a lot. Especially the top 8 or so.

You could be right about Ulis, but I do think he could be a volume scorer and the way he defends the ball and understands the game I like his potential to maximize his talent.

He was recruited over several times over at UK and was surrounded by a constellation of bigger, stronger, more hyped stars, and by the middle of his sophomore year that was HIS program. Impressive to watch.

By the way, thinking about an NBA fit for him, if Philly lets him get past their two late first round picks they're insane. Get that guy in your locker room.

Once again, Henricksen's evaluation of him was spot on before anyone else. I always trust his evals so wanted him bad, but of course we thought we had Snider locked up at the time so we weren't really pursuing him much at all. We also figured we had Tracy for another year so we'd be okay snatching up a top PG from the '15 class. Whoops.

Ulis is the type of kid who has been growing up with naysayers his whole life and time after time he proves them wrong. I expect the NBA to be no different in that regard.

Loyalty could've scraped together 40k for Rose....Would've been worth it!

Ulis is quick, and is also considered a great shooter. That is what the NBA is looking for these days. "Pace and Space"
