If Kezo blows up, it's doubtful he goes to DePaul or Nebraska. He will go to a school that didn't maintain contact with him. As usual, it will only be held against Illinois. Lol

Doesn't really matter if Groce is willing to oversign, or if he has a history of cutting bait. This isn't going to be about what Groce is willing to do, it's what Moore is willing to do. Of course groce is willing to chase Moore despite the current situation, as evidence by the fact that he is. What matters is if Moore is willing to commit here with all of the aforementioned issues. Does he want to commit and then get Tom creaned before he ever puts a jersey on? That's probably not going to happen, so either someone else gets kicked for a legit reason (6th year denied or legal reasons) or someone gets booted because of Charlie. That's a lot of drama to deal with when you could go somewhere else headache free.

I guess I should also add, this is only speculation on my part, I know nothing.

Any chance Tilman was in town to talk Moore into joining him at Illinois? Long shot I'm sure but a possibility?

JGood stepping up and taking over that game has me swooning. Lord knows I want him in the orange & blue but I will be cheering him on wherever he ends up. Kid just wins. What a baller.

Goodwin was 3-11 in a loss later in the day.

Not sure how this is Groce's fault, Moore has had plenty of opportunities to sign with Illinois. Kid might make a difference, I don't know. I have questions about his size and ability to be a true PG. But once again, he has had two chances to come to Illinois, not sure what else could be offered to the kid beyond lies and other stuff.

After sitting next to Rayvonte in Papa Del's the other day, it suddenly hit me that he is an apt comparison for Goodwin. JG obviously higher rated, but is a very good rebounding guard who can score in a variety of ways. Brings toughness and plays bigger than he is. Ray was more muscular but I'd say Goodwin is a better distributor and could be a better defender. Goodwin has higher pro potential and is already taller and maybe still growing.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...rantees-four-year-scholarships-for-all-sports

According to this and what I've read elsewhere, our rides are 4 years guaranteed.

"The new policy, which applies specifically to undergraduate degrees, states that scholarships won’t be reduced or canceled as long as the athlete remains “in good standing” with the school and athletic department."

From the Bloomberg article referenced. The policy really only protects the athlete from the coach saying oops, I didn't evaluate your talent properly. While technically maybe guaranteed, obviously as suspended players, the policy does not apply here. TA and MT are not undergrads, and are not subject to the policy.

I stand by my statement that there are currently 4 open rides.

And knowing Groce and how he feels about Tate, there is no way he's pulling JT's if he thinks he's innocent and unless six people perjured themselves, he most likely is.

I agree with this.

Nunn, I'm not sure about, but Groce still is not going to pull it before the court makes a ruling. It may be to a fault, but one thing JG appears to be is very loyal to his kids.

Might not be Groce's choice at this point.

If MT and TA get their sixth year waivers, their scholarships will be there for them. If JT and KN are both found not guilty, theirs will be there, too.

If all four of these things happen, I will be happy and surprised.

If the open scholly is there, it's either coming from Thorne or Nunn most likely. Tate and Abrams seem to be pretty clearly there. Thorne seems to be pretty optimistic about his case so that leaves one...

Every coach wouldn't get themselves into that position, and I don't think I'm being excessively glib in pointing that out.

It was not for lack of trying. And I don't know how you have a backup plan for being jilted at 11:59. The rest of the PG recruiting, yeah, Groce wears the jacket. Beating a dead horse here.

Agreed, thats always the comp i have thought of. Ray was one of the best rebounding guards i've ever seen.

Neither RR nor Goodwin take plays off like some of the current players.

I agree. Just out of curiosity, as far as who you think takes plays off, who specifically are you pointing fingers at? I'm definitely not saying you're wrong, I'm just curious who in particular you mean. I'd definitely say there were times when Nunn didn't bring aggression on D this year.

2016 NIKE EYBL SESSION 3 VIRGINIA - DAY 1 RECAP

TOP PERFORMERS

Jaren Jackson – 2017 – F – Spiece Indy Heat
Jackson had a huge game that unfortunately wasn’t enough in Friday’s loss to the Oakland Soldiers. Regardless, the 6-foot-10, 220-pound forward was special. Jackson flirted with a triple-double, posting 30 points, 10 rebounds, eight blocks, and three assists. Jackson carried his team to the finish line and definitely came through in crunch time. While he’s primarily a high-post slasher and back-to-the-basket post presence, Jackson had good success shooting the ball from outside the paint. His shot is a work in progress, but when Jackson is hitting, he’s nearly impossible to stop. The opposition had tons of problems with Jackson’s length as he was able to swat away just about everything that came at him.

STOCK BOOSTERS

Ayo Dosunmu – 2018 – G – Mac Irvin Fire
Dosunmu was ready for the big stage, shining in his 17U debut. The sophomore guard responded with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including 2-for-3 from three-point range in a loss to E1T1. Dosunmu shined off ball screens. He made defenders pay for going under the pick n’ roll and rattled off a number of quick trigger jumpers. A smooth guard that glides to the rack, Dosunmu has a quick first step off the bounce and has the length and touch that make him a dangerous finisher at the rim.

2016 NIKE EYBL SESSION 3 VIRGINIA - DAY 2 RECAP
Evan Flood — Contributing Editor - NY2LASPORTS.COM

TOP PERFORMERS

Jordan Goodwin – 2017 – SG – St. Louis Eagles
Goodwin had a huge second half as the St. Louis Eagles put together a major comeback victory over the Las Vegas Prospects. A built guard who can attack the basket, Goodwin was relentless. Goodwin would go coast to coast and shield off defenders with his strength. He didn’t shoot the ball particularly well from the outside, but Goodwin didn’t have to with how well he was finishing around the cup. Goodwin scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to make it a double-double on the day. A stout on-ball defender, Goodwin also had three steals in the win.

STOCK BOOSTERS

Ayo Dosunmu – 2018 – G – Mac Irvin Fire
If Dosunmu continues to play this well, he’s going to blow up yet again in July. Dosunmu just hasn’t been fazed by the 17U level and had another big performance on Saturday. In a win over Seattle Rotary, Dosunmu scored a team-high 20 points on an impressive 7-of-10 shooting. He also added six assists and four rebounds to his stat line. A smooth, deceptively athletic guard, Dosunmu has a great feel off the pick n’ roll and just makes things happen when the ball is in his hands.
