I'm on the Terrence Lewis train. I watched a few more videos which isn't as good as watching live, but he seems to consistently have a smooth release above his head. He does have some long arms and if there is anyone who can maximize his physical abilities, I would bet Fletcher is the guy to do it. Beyond that, as another poster pointed out, being a coach's son generally means that the player has good habits and basketball IQ.

I'm thinking of Syracuse right now with their long athletes causing issues defensively for teams. If you have Lewis, Nichols, and DJW, that could be a start to something good, in that regard. Plus, as it stands now, he's a top 100 or close to it according to most recruiting services.

Working from home this morning, and here are some observations about Tilmon after watching this first half (first time I've had a chance to watch him live).

- Illini fans will recognize Tilmon's hands. Very Egwu-esque on a couple plays around the rim.
- Looks like a great rebounder sometimes, but has gotten outworked or out-jumped for a couple boards. He is playing against a team whose tallest player is 2" shorter than he is. Crashing the boards/around the rim on most plays.
- None of the opposition has really tried posting him up yet (height advantage), so I can't tell how good his post defense is.
- Already has a good set of post moves on offense. Pivots well on the block. Hasn't attempted a jumper yet.
- Has made a few good passes, keeping his head up.
- Will likely need to bulk up a bit, but already has good size.

This is a fair assessment so far. My observations:

-Needs to be more aware when rolling to the hoop. Three times have passes from the guard surprised him and led to turnovers.
-Fades away from rim on post moves too often. Probably will get better with strength.
-Footwork is outstanding for his age. Good place to start there.
-Hands have been good in rebounding, not so much catching passes or dribbling in my opinion.
-His face-up game is probably his best offensive asset right now.
-Not a strong shot blocker like some other bigs in this game.
-Tilmon would be a nice piece and a certainly better talent than Illini have brought in recently. He's got a lot to work on, but his floor as a junior in high school is really good. The potential is there.

I didn't see the John Calipers thing in there. But there's this: “Not dirty in terms of cheating, but you need to know the right people in this city. With the talent that comes out of this area Illinois should be a powerhouse within the Big Ten, and it’s a problem that needs to be figured out.”

I don't know what he means exactly, but there's a game you have to play in Chicago to get to kids whether you're cheating or not. (Not saying Groce doesn't play either).

Know the right people means taking care of them. IE getting your hands dirty and pushing the envelope.

Groce doesn't know the right guys. Right, spot on, lol.

Groce has been a top recruiter for a long time. He definitely knows the right guys. Whether he chooses to wade into the mire with them is another story. I have faith in Groce's judgement: he'll toe the line, but won't step over it. I won't be comfortable with a guy that operates over that line or doesn't know where it is. Hopefully, that's a moot point.

Pretty sure I just saw JCL sitting behind the scores table behind the St. Benedict's coach. Looks like him in a white shirt first row. Obviously his brother and school are playing but can't hurt with Tilmon or Bowen to have some illini blood in the building

Still waiting for an update on that visit. Maybe the storms threw a wrench in their plans..

Better to do it now, and then if time passes and the tides change, he can always change it later.

Do we really still put stock in that silly gimmick?

I trust it more than a coin flip but not my much. It's more of the combination of everything that has been said and known so far.

La Lu wins 60-59. We will have to wait a little longer for the Tilmon commit...

Do they play again tomorrow? And again each day if they continue to win?

Play at 2:00 central tomorrow. If they win they will play at 11 on saturday for the championship. Will likely play #1 Montverde tomorrow.
