It doesn't sound like MSU has truly committed to him.
Izzo's taking Eastern on a slow ride.

I thought he was a near lock for MSU. It would be fantastic to have a realistic shot of landing him.

6'3" #illini recruit Courtney Ramey said he studied the way Ill plays, likes the freedom guards get & able to use screens, even back @ Ohio.
Illinois coaches probably gave him video to look at.The Ohio reference seems a little strange given his age. Just a talking point from the coaching staff being repeated or is Ramey a ball historian?

Eastern lacks the intensity and fire that Goodwin predicates his game on. Eastern is very DJW-esque. Versatility always seems to leave you wanting more.Goodwin is farther along and definitely my preference between the two, but Eastern has tremendous upside. He has a chance to be a special player in a few years. If we miss out on Goodwin, Eastern would be a heck of a consolation prize.
Brian Bowen is their top priority.I believe Eastern wants Michigan State, but they want to see how the Scruggs situation plays out first.

Eastern has said he wants a situation where he can get early PT. Teams like Illinois (even without Goodwin) and Michigan may be too deep on the wing to be able to make a good sell. Ohio St or Purdue may make the most sense for Eastern.
Interested to know how people would rank the '18 and '19 point guard recruits:
Ramey, Garland, Dosunmo, Walker, Campbell, and Jacobs. Gotta think one of those points guards would be a program changer in the biggest way. Imagine getting two, whose styles would go well together and whose would clash?
Good question. I'd say of those, Ramey, Dosunmo, Walker, and Jacobs are the kids you have the best shot at. I think Garland and Campbell will be tough gets. If I was Groce, here's how I would prioritize PGs:
2018:
1. Dosunmo
2. Ramey
3. Garland
4. Castaneda (wait and see guy)
2019:
1. Walker
2. Jacobs
3. Campbell

For sure. Same with Lewis. Point is, if Goodwin is still on the board and we're still in pole position, do you take Eastern?
Jacobs is in a different dimension than Walker.
Some fracking might be necessary
I think I might just be slow to pick up on this kid. Can you elaborate?
At the current state, with the programs we are going up against for Goodwin, I put all the chips in for Goodwin. You didn't go to every one of his games to grab the rug from under him.
Ramey and Jacobs for me. But it'll never happen. I don't think a '19 PG is going to want to follow Ramey (or Dosunmu). Garland? Maybe.

Thanks Mike! Informative as always :thumb:
I've been totally tuned out over the summer and missed this kid's rise. Hope he stays at Uplift, that's right down the street from me so I should be able to catch him live this HS season.
