HC Illini
This is just a prediction. But my guess is he'll be back in the area next year.

Additional comments from Griffin about the four schools he selected:

Zion Griffin Cuts List, Sets 4 Officials

Considering the connection between those four schools and the reasons given for their selection should be avoided if you get headaches easily.

Thanks James.

Sounds like Mom likes IL SU..."They told me what I needed to hear and not what I wanted to hear. My mom really liked that a lot.”

Interesting that Pit made cut without a UV..."did everything in their power to show me they wanted me and not just saying that they wanted me.”

Yeah that is possible. But for this year come and play in the "super division" against top city competition then go back home. But he would be the man at M. Park next year. Only time will tell.

This was all over the place every where I went last winter. One of the worst kept 'secret' transfers in a long time. And I agree with Robjilla, I hope MP-Simeon is on the Cube this year. Should be epic.

Can't have this game at Morgan Park though. Gotta find a safe place to play the game. On second thought you are right, needs to be on the Cube. If they had any sense, it would be on MeTV. I am sure a lot of our poster buddies would watch it.

Joel, you're a good researcher. Do some work on ZG's AAU coach. I'll give you a start, his name is Quintin Garrison and he's an Illini grad of '05 with a degree in finance. OK?

Do you actually know something about him that you are just being really coy about? Because some of us apparently aren't good researchers and didn't turn up anything useful by Googling him.

Quick glance and saw nothing. Maybe just come and give your reasoning?

But then again, i like it when people shoot straight to the point, instead of trying to be cute and cryptic.

I mean, at first glance you would think a guy with an Illinois degree who was friends with the '05 team would only help us, but TC seems to be implying that it actually hurt us. I don't honestly know what to make of that.

Except he was undecided until early summer on where he was going.

Well, 4 people I know who live in Chicago were telling me at Thanksgiving and Christmas tournaments that Adam Miller would be at Morgan Park 'next year' and he is. I heard it from other people but those 4 know people or know people who know people so I didn't think it was just gossip, which is what I consider most of what I hear in the stands unless I hear it from certain people. I later heard La Lu and Bloomington but one of those guys I talk to frequently and not just during the basketball season and he was always saying MP. And that the decision was made last summer when Adam first played for the Fire.
Just saying what I personally heard.

He was a very good HS BB player and thought about walking on. He was very close to the '05 team and in particular JH. My guess is that JH and Self are helping out an "old friend" and giving him the "proverbial" offer and invite to Late Night.
My guess is that BU and staff didn't think he was plan A based on his open gym performance and other evaluation and told them such. They were ticked and thus the "no UI" on final 4 list.
It will be interesting where ZG ends up but I wouldn't be surprised if it is Illinois State.
It sort of reminds me of Josh Cunningham and how he had all those HM offers yet ended up at Bradley.

My first thought was "he kept ISU on there as a fallback"

That could be for a few reasons

1. Some of his bigger offers aren't commitable
2. He wants to be the man, or play against competition he is more comfortable with
3. He has a bad HS season
4. He gets injured?

Just some speculation, nothing more

Think you have the ISU right, maybe just the wrong state.;)

Not if he was close with Jerrance, which is what I believe he is implying. He could be right.

Virtually no way the Kansas offer is real, just blowing smoke, maybe just f...ing with us.

After reading his comments and infatuation with the Kansas offer, and that Iowa State "wants and needs" him, I think it is as simple as we didn't make him feel as special as the other remaining schools.

BU has a habit of laying out a developmental plan for players. If the player and the staff are in general agreement of their current skill set, that attention to detail is impressive. If the player has an inflated view of his current skill set versus the staff's current view, it could be deemed offensive while other schools are kissing his !!!.

He clearly has a high major ceiling, maybe even an NBA ceiling with his athleticism, but he is just learning to be a wing. In all of the highlights I have ever watched, I have never seen a more one hand dominant player. He has lots of work to do before he can be successful against a high major defense.

I have no knowledge of what actually happened, but reality can be a buzz kill.

edit: I see TC confirmed the JH thing, and agree with the logic in the rest of his post.

If Griffin ends up at Illinois State maybe he can arrange to room with Chastain and Bruninga.:)

Lots of good info here. Your speculation makes sense.

Very plausible.

These posts shed a good deal of light onto what was a very puzzling decision. Thanks, gents.

The most logical explanation is this kid was looking to a place he would be needed. He all but said that flat out with his recount of the creepy Iowa state comment.

Underwood likely said we're looking at a couple of guys at this position, which he didn't like, then he looked at our roster and said they have a lot of wings. There is probably a better place for me.

Talen Horton-Tucker has been and continues to be my top choice for wing recruits. That kid just knows how to play. I think if he sheds that baby fat he could have a Deronesque improvement to his game.

Thanks for clarifying. much easier to follow.

I have bolded a few things, are these things you know as fact, or are they speculation? not trying to dig at your info, but i just want to know if you know that or just are guessing. Thanks again!
