Ayo is very good player, and would fit well most anywhere. That said, seems the Pearson talk is more than us, so they think it too.
Griffin visit Friday looks to be end of little tour, looks like a good prospect, and if he verbals on Friday, I'm all good with it, get the domino falling.:illinois:

......because "he'd go pro"??

I think you can be a star in college and an elite recruit and player without being good enough to leave for the NBA early.

Obviously you are right. On the other hand if he comes to UIUC and he's so good he's gone after 2 years... I'll take that problem:thumb::thumb:

Why he’s a starter? One of the best in 2018 at getting to the rim, Dosunmu put up one big game after another in the Las Vegas Classic. He has tremendous size for a point guard and is improving as a playmaker for others.
Recruitment: Illinois is considered by many to be the leader with Xavier and Kansas right in the mix. UConn and USC have recently offered.

Readily admit to being reticent about Pearson. Thing is, if we have to take him (i.e., package deal): (1) we get Ayo and (2) if Pearson doesn't develop, his ride will become available as early as '20.

Obviously, Ayo can't be overstated as a recruit and the boost he'll give to the general perception of the program.

Having Black and Finke as seniors, along w/Spicy G's apparently rapid ascent, affords us the luxury of taking a flyer on Pearson.

If Griifin pulls the trigger this week, we could see a run.

Adam Miller is saying a combo of he and Ayo would be good at basketball and Ayo agrees

They could be talking about playing together at Morgan Park. I heard that a ton last winter and O'Brien hinted there was a big name transfer into MP after Burnett transferred out.

I've heard the same thing and I think that's what they are talking about.

I could definitely see that since there were talks Miller would transfer from Manual. I think only Illini homers would assume they are talking about the illini haha

I knew that this was a possibility to see Miller head to MP. I do think that we get both Ayo, and Miller however.

I think if Miller heads to MP, he and the Irvins will get a front row seat to see how BU molds Ayo into an NBA Player.

Sounds most realistic actually in order I think it would be Griffin, Ayo, Pearson and then Conditt if we were to oversign and take 4.

Finke ship has sailed, passed up....THT although very good is not nearly the athletic type that Griffin seems to be and Griffin has quite possibly played his way past him as far as ranking as hard as that is to believe based on limited exposure. :chief:
It is possible that he has moved past THT, but it's hard to say that after what was it, 1 week? Griffin averaged 17 last year, but I have to see more. If he verbals, you have to trust the staff. He seems to be trending upward. Only time will tell.

THT is not coming here. Staff has moved on.

Griffin, Conditt, Ayo, Pearson.

First domino to fall soon...:shield:

I could definitely live with that.

Btw, I don't have enough orange and blue pals here in town. We should grab a beer sometime. Need comrades in the lands of IU and Purdon't.

I'm in Avon, Indiana. A meetup sounds like a good idea. I would love to talk Recruiting with other Illini fans in the area.

He was also the tallest player on high school team and played with his back to the basket. Given the chance to play on the wing in AAU we started to see his true skill set.

Brunson for example,...although he would have been drafted this past year. He'll be in his 3rd year in 17-18.

Not saying your wrong, but the staff watched him Sunday. Strange way to show they moved on.

While this is true, it doesn't mean we should just take anyone for that suddenly-free spot. We've talked about oversigning for Ayo, but it could also be seen as oversigning for Pearson. If Ayo truly won't come without Pearson, then fine I suppose, but have the other schools offering Ayo also offered Pearson?

Pretty sure they plan to sign four if they are the right ones. Not sure it has anything to do with Pearson.

Although I like THT, afraid this is true. He was extremely excited to get Sparty offer, think he wants more B1G offers then Ayo. Lol.
Could live with these 4, get them committed , focus on the season. Sounds to easy.;):illinois:

My understanding is that the staff really does like Pearson. It's not just a package thing. They like what he brings.

Thank you for the response. Going to have to recalibrate on Pearson.

Refreshing to have some insight into what the staff thinks versus rampant, and often dead wrong, speculation.

Not saying they have moved on from him all together, but he is definitely on the back burner. They have bigger priorities than him.

The staff has shifted their focus.
