Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Chin taking the reigns on this one?
You are correct in pointing out Chin's involvement. I used the term "Underwood" here as a surrogate for the collective staff. Could have been more specific.

New CB for Ayo to us this morning. Jordan Goetzke (Butler guy?)

Then maybe he's dialed in at XU too. Lots of crossover between those two as far as connections. I think it's interesting that THT and Ayo both seem to have serious Illinois and XU interest but aren't going to play together.

Oh man. Orange Fever was one of the best. Always disappeared around Lent but then came back with a vengeance!

Going waaay back, how about Bonnick and Illini4everJP?
Damn. Forgot about those 2. I still remember Fightingillinut. Was great with stats. And of course 4ever and all his reincarnations. Kingmal another good one.

Heard that Dee Brown was back on campus today and sat down w BU and staff to chat for a little while. Hopefully he has got all of his personal issues straightened out and maybe looking to get involved again.:shield:

I hope this true on all fronts. Dee is my all time favorite Illini

Besides taking some time out to Coach, when did he leave??

Chin took the reigns to get it going. Underwood has since taken over. He is the one putting together the development plans for Ayo and meeting with Ayo's dad. Chin is very involved, but he isn't the lead now

Considering the source, is this statement a foreshadowing one?

I would expect most AAU coaches circulate with the local universities. I'm sure Dee will maintain a great relationship with our staff, among others. Hopefully his AAU team and program becomes a good pipeline for us.

Not entirely sold that this is a positive thing considering all the politics involved. Isn't the main reason Chin is on the staff to win Chicago recruitment battles, especially recruitments tied o the Irvin's?

Hiring chin makes Underwood trustworthy to the Irvin's, and it's highly doubtful chin is completely uninvolved. But player development plans and showing fit in the system are also the responsibility of the head coach. Getting us in the door and initial relationships, that's assistants.

I talked to someone that is familiar with the Dee situation but all I could get was that what he did was really dumb and serious enough that he would not be back employed by Illinois.

Maybe this photo from last month might shed some light on Dee's situation.

I hope that doesn't mean whatever Dee did was something against the best interests of UI and in the interests of KU.

I do not know what happened with Dee, not going to speculate out of respect for Dee.

The picture TCTORNADO posted with Self is just showing that Dee is making the rounds, much like he was just on campus with Underwood. It is his responsibility as an AAU coach, we shouldn't read more into it than that, IMHO

Nope not at all. I think Dee realizes when you lose a $200,000/year job that you need to get income from somewhere. Just rumored that he is looking to Self for help. Currently, coaching for the Irvins.

When one See's that you resources for good recruits out of Chicago is being taken away, one sometimes tries to take out some insurance. Wouldn't you think Dee was a little put out about the new staff coming in didn't give him a sniff about being considered? Self shows us some BS he would do to insure his world wouldn't get rocked. Dee should have known better. Probably lucky that BU is considering any time to chat with him.
For Dee's sake hope all gets smoothed over. Many people like him and want him with :illinois:.
