Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread

I heard Wilkes wanted to see how we played against Lewis, before making his final decision...says UCLA has too many girls in bikinis and doesn't like IU clown pants. TIFWIW

Why aren't we talking to Manny Patterson ( 6'8 C @ Chi Kenwood). Plus defender with good athleticism. Saw him play this summer. I know we have bigger fish we are after but this kid would be a good 4 when those fall through.

At least he has a BIG body. Fletch could develop Patterson's explosiveness. Seems like a player to monitor. If he plays hard and has a decent basketball IQ he'll make a solid college player at the very least.

I'm sure there are posters on here who have seen him play in person. Would be interesting to hear there assessments.

From Joe, Manny was a secondary target for MAC schools and is getting looked at by MVC schools. Good luck to the kid but that's not what Illinois needs.

But man, can you imagine what could have been... Chastain passing to Patterson!

Has there been any reports of when Kiir is supposed to announce? He would make this recruiting class one of the best in Illinois history.

Just based on video quality I thought he played sometime in the late 90s.

Lol. Definitely a retro style clip. Wisconsin Green Bay is probably where he lands. I only mention a cat like Patterson because of need at this position. I saw him at two tourneys this summer. So...when we whiff we rollover?

The are more valuable ways to use the scholly.

What time is it that recruits can start signing their LOI's? Midnight? Some time in the morning? Didn't see a time given on the NLI website.

+1, IMHO, unless it's a elite like Wilkes, a skilled big like Epperson, or an athletic, physical big like Kirr, then we'll use a scholarship for a fifth year who fits the system while banking the other for n18. Finke will most likely back up Tilmon unless we get one of those three targets, or a legit 4\5 immediately eligible transfer who decides he wants to be a back up to the biggest recruit we've seen in a long time. Black by then should be able to play some five in a pinch too. Then we'll either have Kip,DJW, or Pickett getting time as the third pf option. It would be nice to add an instant impact prep or transfer (average 8-10 ppg with 5-6 rpg), but it's not going to be the end of the world if we don't.

I highly doubt he'll play PF but Pickett is Hill's height.

Safe bet especially as a freshman. It's not easy getting on the court as the 3rd, 4th, or 5th option at a position, but you never know...

I have also heard/saw that he was in the 6'5"-6'6" range now.

TJL's injury factors into the equation. It'd be nice to see what he would look like if the injury didn't take 8 months of his training. Have two lighting quick guards like Frazier and TJL has me excited for the future. Frazier seems as good at scoring as TJL does at passing from the little that I've seen of both.

I think it's pretty safe to say that this isn't happening. Pickett is only 6'3"...

247sports is using a height from over a year ago. Pickett is about 6-5 these days. Maybe even a bit taller from seeing him at Ubben.

Good to know. I still think my original point stands. I doubt we will be seeing Pickett at the 4.

One day from the start of the early signing period and this board is totally dead. We need a rumor!
