Counterpoint: He played with two other top 25 scorers in Illini history, number two on the all time rebound list, and number three in the all time blocked shots list. That feels like a lot of help.
I agree with your assessment that we as a group get carried away with our player comparisons, but I think you're doing the same with Dmac. He was a great passer. A good scorer, but his perimeter defense would fit in nicely on this years team. Could he have been a starting PG on an elite team? Sure. But if he was the best player on your team, you weren't going to be much better than we were during his four years here.
His defense was even worse that this years team. Would fit because of lack of lateral quickness like this year, but paired it with a complete lack of interest. The only thing that made him play D at all was Weber yelling at him constantly. One of my favorite Illini of all time on the offensive end, though.
